Cup RACE thread --- Phoenix

So, do you think that Coach Gibbs secretly wishes that Denny's contract was the one that was up in a race?

Hamlin said that he'd be much grayer the next time his contract expires so Gibbs must have faith in him. I'd take Kenseth over him in a heartbeat. I'm also biased :)

I think its less faith and more with the fact that FedEx wants to continue on sponsoring the 11 team with Denny driving.

Of course , just my opinion.

I get your point but I also have to wonder if the events over the past few weeks have FedEx wondering about that?

Personally I don't give a rats a** what people think of Hamlin or Elliott but if was a sponsor of #11 and seen/heard what took place after Martinsville, I'd be doing some thinking.

You make a valid point, and we can do is guess as to how FedEx feels about it.

I know one thing, the preacher was going on and on about his love for Denny but at the same time he mentioned his long relationship with Fed X. He would be be out with the knife in a heartbeat if Fed X took a hike. Helloooo Bell.

I don't think Elliott meant to hit Hamlin but it's fun to think he did.

If it was intentional, it was masterful. Make him wreck himself.

Such a bummer Elliott got passed at the end. Almost Cinderella stuff.
Stoked on a win for Kenseth.

It is fair to say that Matt Kenseth's victory will probably go down as the most popular victory of the year.
However, if Chase Elliott had won, I imagine that it would have been met with uproarious cheers and applause - it would have topped the end result that we saw today.
Still, great to see Matt win. I did not think that I would actually be this happy to see him win, even at the expense of Chase.

Kenseth, the Labontes, and Smoke were my favorites when I first started watching this sport in 2001. It was brutal watching Bobby hang around for a decade and never win again, freaking stoked that Matt got one today. Bummed Chase finished 2nd again but he has decades left Matt has 1 race left lol. Also, kudos to Stenhouse, Almirola, and Dale Jr. On solid top 10s today

lol he ran him off the road. Of course it was intentionally done

More Phoenix (the spring race was good too) and more Martinsville type tracks is what can bring back interest in NASCAR. Good stuff today from what I've seen.

I know people aren't going to like this but the hypocrisy of this whole #11 #24 debacle is mind numbing.

Replace Chase Elliott's name with Kyle Busch and Hamlin is a hero this morning.

No thanks.

All the 11 had to do was let the 24 by. What an idiot. You live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Exactly. All Hamlin had to do was stay in front of Kez. Why didn't he just let Chase go?

So Hamlin lets Elliott go by and Elliott goes on to win the race.

Hamlin staying in front of Keselowski is now meaningless as Chase has grabbed the last playoff spot.

no ?

Give us a call back when Chase intentionally wrecks another driver at over 100mph while under caution over trivial contact.

The smart play was to let him pass and see how the race would evolve. Hambone being Hambone he didn't do that. He paid the price.

Many people haven't been around for a while or have short memories are a large part of the misconceptions about both of the Gibbers and Busch's in general. When it come to wrecking people on purpose, I mean real chicken**** moves, KDB is out front a long way. One could say easily influenced Hambone learned all he knows about cheap shots from his teammate. The irony is after Hambone dumped Elliott, KDB rooted Hamlin out of the way . I hope Kyle gave him a kiss for doing his dirty work. Hamlin's always saying I race people like they race me..well there ya go

Gordon fans really need to quit bringing up the Kyle Busch Texas incident. I'm sure Clint Bowyer would agree
