Cup RACE thread --- Pocono

I’m going to have to investigate that a little further…🤔
Seems like whatever the issue was it resolved sometime after 11:00pm for those that were affected by it. I feel like I have gone back in time to the days of a VCR. Anyone else remembering trying to program those to record something and the disappointment when you got home and realized it did not work? That's what I felt like.

Have you recovered yet?

Not sure what everybody’s strategy was at this point but it was the beginning of the stage 2 so I assume he was basically on the same tires as most others.

Hocevar going from 19th-5th on the restart of stage 2 :punkrocke :punkrocke:punkrocke.

“That was cool”…yea I bet it was Carson.

This has been a rough year to be a Keselowski fan
Hang in there. This too shall pass. Kes is a very underrated driver IMO and things will get better, He should get more credit for the turnaround he has been part of at RFR. I just hope you don't have to listen to the "apparently he forgot how to drive" BS that fans of Chase are subject to.

Well, I'm not confident it will "pass." I knew this would be a bad year, because obviously his focus was going to be on getting Preece settled. He's an owner first, driver second. I get that. But Preece isn't looking great, though still minimally viable, and Brad might have to still work with him next year as well, continuing to take away from his time to do his own race prep. Plus, he aint young, and physically, he's a worse driver next year.

This year is horrible, and it will regress to the mean, but I don't think we'll see even 2024 Kes again.

The list of owners who are successful driving for themselves is short. The list of ones who own more than one car and are successful driving for themselves is Tony Stewart.

Not a knock on Kez but it's a multitasking b!+ch
Nah I get it. When he only had to manage one other competent driver, he could get by all right. But now he's leading two others, one of whom needs work. That's a tall order.

Tony had an almost silent partner in Haas at that point. Can you imagine having Jack Roush as a partner and having to run everything past Fenway and his bean counters also? I don't envy Kez one bit. He's a superman to get as far as he has. One thing I believe. Keselowski is going to be in this sport for a long time.

Well, I feel for ya. I supported Bill Elliott trying to be an owner/driver for years and it obviously never worked as he had one non-points race win and nothing else as far as wins anyway from 1995 - 2000. He did have the summer of 2000 Daytona race in the bag until Mike Skinner came along LOL. The loyalty paid off in the end as Bill had one of the most underrated IMO career resurgences of all time. I still think if he was in that 9 car in 2004 that he might have completed for a championship given what KK did in it as a rookie. EMS was just that good from 04-06 before the COT. They really figured some things out at the end of 03 as Bill won the next-to-last race of the year in dominant fashion and was dominating the finale at Homestead until he cut that tire on the last lap.

Drivers need to be in the right situation and Kes is just not right now as far as competing for wins. Not sure how many more years he plans to race but you never know what might happen. I never saw Bill racing for Dodge and Ray Evernham.
