Cup RACE thread --- Richmond

I like this idea so much.
and if a driver has a penalty or problem late in the stage, he could use some of his bonus points to veto being removed from the race.
just gimme more gimmicks.
that will bring the fans back.
cough,cough

Embrace the gimmick. Fan Vote for the 17th driver to be added to the playoffs. Announce winner during driver introductions at Chicagoland

i would like to see a live vote to turn off the mic for one of the 3 stooges for the rest of the race,

Apparently it PO'd Carl so much he said screw it im done. Can't believe it angered him so much it drove him to walk away

Wonder if NASCAR was not contemplating a similar response from Kenseth when they were making the decision to start the "five minute" clock several minutes after Kenseth pulled behind the wall.

Granted that NASCAR did not purposely orchestrate the debacle regarding the ambulance parked in the pit entrance, but by obviously making a "rule" exception regarding the "cone" on one hand for those that went high, but belatedly enforcing another (based on NASCAR judgment call) with the 5 minute rule...sure looks suspicious to me...then again, besides NASCAR itself, there does seem to be a passive media shift to faze out Kenseth as one of the "old" guys to put the "new" guys as a focus.

Too bad to, Kenseth is probably one of the last of the drivers that are not just steering wheel holders. Just ask Jason...their specific car team is not getting the same information shared amongst the others in the same barn and between Jason and Kenseth they are still competitive. It is as if they are a one car team.

Information clearly gleaned from that guy in Charlotte. He's a veritable fountain of information.

NASCAR seems to be putting all their eggs in the young gun basket. They haven't tried to let this movement grow organically, they're shoving it down our throats that these guys are the future which is honestly pretty annoying. They're likeable guys and have/will have much success but shoving the veterans to the side and promote the mostly unproven (at this level) drivers leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

After all is said and done, the ambulance was pretty interesting. Not quite up there with JPM when he blew up the jet dryer, but high on the can you believe it scale. It didn't look like the preacher bought Hamlin's lame ass excuse for wadding two of his cars up. "The splitter made me do it. Hambone reverting to the playing dumb kid mode nah, I don't think the preacher bought it. Like Hambone didn't know where the racing groove was and what Truex was going to do? He was on full bulldozer mode. He nailed the 22 in the first corner on the last restart and moved him up. All Hamlin figured was that he was going to get another spot out of the deal. :D

I figured he was ordered to do it. That way if both cars got pulled in to be inspected they'd have an excuse why they were out of tolerance.o_O

Those secret decoder rings come in handy in these situations.

Pious Joe knows that Truex is his team's main rival this year -- so Hamlin gets the Richmond Itch and takes a few points from MTJ.

Don't know how Toyota feels about Gibbs' team of goons -- but as long as they will shiv other competition as well, Toyota is probably alright with letting Pope Joe fight it out with Visser...
