Cup RACE thread --- Richmond

Sadly I think I’m about there with you.
Relationships matter. Tony and Zippy. Hell, Carl Edwards and Bob Osbourne had a chemistry over the radio that Carl hasn't had with a CC since.

Larson and Daniels seem more than professional - Cliff has gone out of his way to be with Larson at dirt races, and watches them (a bit of an unknown). Obviously Jimmie and Chad.

To my ear, Chase and Alan sound like two guys who work together. I know ADouble9 doesn't like this, but when I occasionally listen to Chase and Alan, there just doesn't seem to be this sense of chemistry that is there with other consistent pairings. There isn't this floating air of confidence.

I'm not sure how to put this, but they sound like driver and CC, rather than Chase and Alan, the men. I've said many times, I think Chase is a frat bro, and he needs someone a bit more spicy, energetic, confident etc. A younger Steve Addington I think would have been great

What you saw was the 11 tires dispatching the 24 tires. The 11 crew chief beat the 24 crew chief. ;)
Are you suggesting that Denny backed into this one? I mean, you would know, right?....The 11 team was lost yesterday. Gabehart made adjustments, and that car was fast the second half of the race. Great result. Great team win. Fabulous race. No t-shirt this week.

It was a good day for JGR. Those guys finally found some speed.

I you paid as much attention to what people say instead of trying to troll you would know that I already congratulated Denny on his win and didn't say a word about him backing into it. Bobby was talking about dominating the 24 car but that never happened until the tires started going away. I don't know why you would bring up t-shirts because the 48 was back in 8th place not even in the picture...unless you are trolling.

You guys did good today. All of your cars were strong. Busch would have been up front also if not for the penalty.
I would like to see some longer practice sessions. As Denny and Martin alluded to, those guys have been behind in figuring out this new car.
Lots of quality people working for JGR, they’re making gains.
These JGR cars will be competitive when it matters.
(I didn’t want to say “play-offs. Hate that ******* concept.)

Ah man....just having some fun. The definition of trolling is about one who logs on to make someone's life miserable or to piss them off. You have some great examples around here, but I am not one of them. Great race today. This is going to be a good week. Can't wait for Martinsville.....but I will soak in this victory week in the meantime.

Yeah, I don't think they are going to get those practice sessions. The more NASCAR prolongs this learning phase, the more uncertain the outcomes will be, and that is good for the sport. TRD is working their asses off. You can't tell where JGR begins and TRD ends--they are that seamless. This race was huge. HUGE. If the Toyotas sucked here, you would really have to wonder what the hell was going on....but no worries. Much work to do, but the direction is good, and as Denny said before the race....maybe WE could get on a bit of a roll....

I think they said Hamlin had 30 lap fresher tires. As Larry Mac says 4 new feel goods and a full tank of fuel. They said Truex had 15 lap fresher tires than the 24 and he couldn't get it done. Traffic helped the 24. I never heard what Harvick had for tires. I would assume he had some of the fresher ones.

It was nice seeing actual pit strategery and tire wear factor into the win.
Kevin had a nice day today, too.
Fabulous race. My kind of race actually. Tire wear, speed, handling, strategy....no dump for the win....but I was screaming at my set to have Denny do it when it seemed like it might be necessary. When in Rome.....

It's all good. Now I should go order a 5X t-shirt to help support the loving canines in NC. :D

Love how pumped up Hamlin was at the end of this one, must have been a blast driving up thru there on that last run on newer tires all the way to the lead, incredible from that far back, navigating around traffic with Harvick and picking them off 1 by 1. Absolutely love when races play out this way regardless of who wins it. Huge shot of life into the Toyota's today, the competition level is off the charts in the Cup series.

100%. That is my wallpaper for the week. I loved his reaction. Great win.

Well played by Hamlin and his team, same with Harvick and his team. Great race of the race within the race along with strategy.

Now.... if we could have done away with the stage racing.... this could have been 2002.

“I thought there at the end when they told me that I was just racing the 19 [Truex], I was like, ‘OK, I got him.’ But the 4 [Harvick] and the 11 [Hamlin] were on totally different planets. It’s just part of it with different tire strategies.”

“It just develops as you go,” said Fugle. “And then as it cools down … our pace through 60 laps was really good, and I thought there’s no way the 11 was going to be able to do that, and then we’ve never gone to 90 (laps). So that last 30 (laps) we just dropped faster than we needed to, unfortunately.”

Anyone remember that nonsense NASCAR enforced for a few years about drivers not climbing on the cars after winning? That was straight out of the 'No Fun League' rulebook. Hopefully it's dead and buried beside Digger, zip line cameras, and racing back to the caution flag.

Remember the PVC pipe rig they'd put by driver's door and window to enforce them not climbing up?

I wonder how many more tracks besides Richmond will have tire strategy play a role with the new car.

I agree that was silly. Quickly installing a mobile electric fence around the car and utilizing tasers would have been more effective and looked more professional. They could have also sold the rights to electric fencing or taser outfits and collected handsome fees.
