Cup Series at Dover Race Thread

Am I not paying enough attention, what happened to Dinger? Was 18 on lead lap now showing 20 somehing 2 laps down, never heard ESPN say a thing about it.

His tire was going down so he short pitted then kenseth blew the tire

Man what is with all the first place cars pulling away? First it was AJ, then Jimmie, and now Kyle Bush.

They sure do like going on about KB beating up on those minor leaguers - with superior equipment that basically equates to a loaded bat.

Well Jimmie is back in 1st place. Man it seems like when he first comes off the pit he drops back a few position, but as the race goes on he gets back into his groove and does his thing.

Jeeez what a crappy snoooozer of a race. Babies in Victory Lane? Seriously??
I would've rather had a colonoscopy.

Yep neither did I, watched NFL Redzone then the Atlanta New Orleans game, another win in another Chase......yawn.

God awful race. It's gotten to the point this year I would much rather watch any football game than Nascar. I see why the ratings are down and the stands half empty.

Yep me too, I watched some of the middle, but for the most part this was a boring race.

I thought it was a pretty good race, very few caution, had some green lap pit stops and the few cautions it did have was for bull**** reason, but whatcha going to do?

I thought the place seated 135K.

Your point is well taken though.

It is 135,000 and they say there was 88,000 there.hahahahaha stretchin it a bit huh.

DOVER DOWN: Dover Motorsports President Denis McGlynn told drivers in the prerace meeting not to be “self-conscious” about declining TV ratings and attendance. It was hard for them to miss all the empty seats Sunday at Dover.

The speedway has plenty of fans to target as entire sections were closed off and there was plenty of light in the turns. NASCAR estimated the crowd at 88,000. The track holds about 135,000 and it only looked slightly more than half full. McGlynn acknowledged before the race attendance would be light.

“It’s going to be up slightly from May, but we’re going to have a lot of empty seats,” he said.

He was right, but he’s not alone. NASCAR has seen attendance and ratings dip this season. McGlynn said he was working on ticket packages for Dover’s two NASCAR weekends next season that targeted the “lapsed fan.”

McGlynn plans nine family sections scattered around the stands for next year’s races. No smoking, no drinking and $10 tickets for kids under 14.

“We’re trying to make it an offer that an older guy can’t refuse,” he said. “Now he’s got no excuse not to bring his kids and grandkids out there.”

McGlynn would still like to expand the garage area, one of the smallest on the circuit, making it easier for teams to work and allow fans a more comfortable experience. He talked about building a platform overlooking the garage that would give fans a birds-eye view of the area.

“I think we can get that done just as soon as the economy improves,” McGlynn said.

please let that no smoking section be near my seats. Because I have to sit behind the same smoking JJ fans everyyear

Looked to me like the 00 cut down on the 39 got him loose then crashed.

That place overbuilt like most all of the other tracks did. This past springs race had a dramatic decrease in attendance as well.

Which is why its stupid that Kentucky is adding all those seats for its cup race next year

38,000 of them. Do they require a season ticket to attend their race?

Actually, never-mind. I just called them. They are currently only accepting deposits for season ticket packages. If there are any left after the season ticket sales period, they will then sell individual events. The have a waiting list for individual event tickets sales.
