Current Standings Under Old Points Formats

It doesn't matter how Chad would adapt. There are crashes, car parts failures, that come into play that are out of his reach.

Those criterias happen during the course of a season.

Its alot easier to adapt knowing how things are going to be with coming into the chase.

No matter how well prapare you are there is no way you can have 36 good weeks but you can surely make sure you have 10 damn good ones. Or at least 9 outside of Talladega.

Chad is good but he ain't no genie.

Errkay, but there can also be crashes, car parts failures, and whatever else within the chase. The point is, yes, it's possible to focus a lot of time and energy into 10 races at the end of the season, but that's exactly why you can't compare the chase to the non-chase; you don't know how differently teams would perform if they hadn't done whatever they did in an effort to prepare for the Chase.

And until somebody can prove otherwise, Chad is obviously the genie of the garage area :D

Yeh he is .....but all Genies will have to back in their bottle eventually, Chad has used up most of his Genie abilities in my opinion. The rest of the field is getting wise to him and catching up to his tactics.

They wouldn't worry about it because then they'd have the points they've earned throughout the season to fall back on if they happen to wreck.

Under the old point system one measly wreck would not take you out of the championship as opose to now.

You cant compare chase to non-chase because its idiotic to do so not because of how a particular driver would perform but because of one system resets the points and the other one doesn't.

Without the chase it wouldn't be a factor . Nobody would notice (or care) who is in 12th and who is in 15th . Same as we don't care who is in 18th and who is in 21st . The chase is the only thing that causes anydiscussion ,like baseball teams trying for a wildcard spot .If you don't have a wild card spot , nobody notices them.

These guys used to battle for 10th all season long just get to the banquet. Now all anyone cares about is the championship. You could hardly tell there were drivers besides JJ and Kenseth on the track yesterday.

Right.

I dont understand why NASCAR has 12 drivers competing for the championship and only allow the top 10 to be at the banquet.

Its dumb. You might as well only invite first and second because by the time they get to Homestead only two guys would be left competing for said championship.

It definitely would be a slap in the face to win races and lead the points for 26 races only to be told that you're not really good enough to sit with the top 10 in Nascar.

Thank you ToyYoda. So then, let the haters rest easy tonight with the knowledge that Jimmie would've won the championship in any of the points systems of the last 10 years. Put it in cement, Jimmie is THE best driver of this era, hands down, under that inscribe "Powered By Chevrolet"
