With all the anti-Jr stuff going around this year (myself included)...I'd like to give credit where credit is due.

Dinoforthe3, hooty and a few others have been great people to converse with, they always seem to keep their cool, make great points and always remember that this is all in fun...even when the other side seems to be losing their minds. You guys are great members, and I really appreciate your input.

Anyway, this round is on me...Dale fans only.

Paul, you must have fell and hit your head.LOL
Anyway, I'll drink one with you.

Hey man Thanks a lot.

There are a lot of smart and great people on this board who all love Racing. You guys challenge me to pay attention and think before I say (type) something.

I feel just like home here. I come from a family of Rusty fans. My brother's room at home in nothing but rusty.

And here I opened this thread expecting to see something about Dale Jarrett. :(
Instead it is just another bone tossed to the Lil'E crowd so they don't get their feelings hurt. :p
As if Lil'E needed another bone...anyway.

Hey Paul, just don't let them that the round was brought to them by the fine folks at Miller brewing :p

BP, you'd be right if the people I weren't addressing hadn't already showed that they're able to see the whole situation for what it is. They've shown time and time again that they can roll with the punches, even admit a few points.

If I were talking about the Dale fans that have run off like little children at the first sign of rough going than you might be on the money, but the folks that are mature enough to discuss the situation (even when I seem to make it nearly impossible) are credits to Jr fans and a pleasure to have around.

The ones who "get their feelings" hurt always get weeded out, and gladly so.

Paul, you are probably right. As you know I'm not around as much as I had been. This whole Lil'E fiasco that NASCAR is foisting onto the racing fans has really gone overboard. Take for example the Hooray for Hollywood (or whatever they called it) in the pre-race at Fontana. For a 30 second blurb we got to see Lil'E 5 times. NASCAR needs to throw a bone to the other drivers. They may have one or two fans themselves that would enjoy a little face time. When the cameras are panning the garage count the number of times they work Lil'E into the angle. During a race, the number of times we are given his in car view even if it shows absolutely nothing. The times the race seems to center on where the #8 is regardless of what is going on with the rest of the race. Or, what his pits are going to do as opposed to some of the others. This fact alone could be why you and others have found the races boring. Fox shows a 1 car race. Nevermind what anybody else is doing. It is probably this that has made me so anti-Lil'E that I'm ready to answer the bell when ever I hear his freaking name. Sorry for the rant.

You're preaching to the choir.

I've all but stopped watching the races for the reasons you've just mentioned.

Jr can be in last place, and FOX deems it necessary to spilt the screen and keep us constantly updated on his position, regardless of what kind of racing is going on elsewhere. Going in and out of commercials is nothing but free Bud advertising as well.

Believe me, I don't like all of this either, and if you read some of my older posts this season you'll see some pretty huge rants about it all.

Oh, and does anyone else find it odd that I actually need to convince someone that I'm not pro-DEI?

Nah, I knew you weren't pro-DEI. Me, I find myself pulling for a different driver most races not having a real favorite. Close hard racing where the finish is not known until inside the last 5 laps and Lil'E is out in the 1st 5. The drama we had last year was much better. At least up to the present time. Wondering when Sterling was going to surrender the lead. When Spencer was going to b!tch slap Kurt. What Jimmie was going to screw up next to take himself out of the win. How long Gordon would drive competively before frustration caused him to give up. Which reporter or fan Tony was going to beat up. If Ricky would realize he was really screwing the pooch by giving up his ride. Would a whole hosts of drivers ever win, including Rusty. And, finally would we ever see Lil'E with a woman at his side that wasn't a relative. Or, even read about one in the Enquirer. There was a lot more drama last year. This year, because NASCAR writers are putting all of their efforts into the Lil'E Show we don't have all of these subplots going on. Except there is still no woman in Lil'E's life. Just a bunch of guys. Hmmmm.... ;)

I understand what you guys are saying, it does get shoved down your throat alot if you are not Jr fasns, (but I have an eleven and a nine year old daughter that loves it), but all I keep hearing is how Jr. is somehow responsible for this, when he is not. That is my only arguement, Jr has nothing to do with how many times he face and car is on T.V.

He may not be directly responsible for it all, but he certainly loves it.

Compare Jr's undying love to be in front of a camera with that of say...Tony Stewart.

No compare it to the flack Jimmie and the other young guns got last year. And, theirs was because they were winning the freaking races. It is one thing to cover the winner, leader, mover thru the pack, etc. But, to constantly show 1 driver, 1 car, 1 crew is a bit overboard. Remember how people felt last year and they were spreading it out to 3 or 4 guys. This year it is 1 guy. Only 1 guy. Every race.
Now as to your girls liking him I would think you could find them a better role model than Lil'E. By his own admission he hangs out with questionable characters to all hours of the night. He drinks to excess several times a week. He only shaves when it is so itchy he can't stand it. He is pouty, vindictive and overbearing. Just look how he handles his competitiors and his other DEI drivers. Mikey and Steve both said he doesn't get up before noon and thus misses the mandatory meetings during the week. People are lauding him for maturing so much this year. I haven't seen much evidence of that, yet. He is still the spoiled brat that Dale Sr. (God bless his soul) raised at the expense of Kelly and Kerry (whom he neglected).
It made me sick to my stomach to hear the fans that went to Mooresville for the BDay party talk about how they switched from Sr. to Lil'E. They are worlds apart. And, how 1 could switch allegiances merely because of the name is beyond me. If Dale had lived he might have taught the boy some responsibility but I doubt it. Lil'E was in full renegade mode and was out to show his dad that he could do it without him. It is too late now but if only Dale Sr. had invested the time and money in Kelly and Kerry, who are much more like him in demeanor, we might have had better drivers on the Circuit. Kelly was quite a racer in her day. And, could possibly have made a name for herself in Cup. But, Sr. put Jr. thru the driving schools, etc. to make him the racer. And, now we are subjected to the Lil'E show every week.

Dale was good but i am just about tired of Dale Jr ridding off his dad

bp, not to completely step on your rant, but it was Kelly's choice to discontinue her racing. And those are her comments, not mine. She decided she was better elsewhere than in a car. ;)

To bad this thread started in such a positive light. Now it is just another bash Junior thread. You guys all know how junior is because you have actually talked to him right. I will give you that Mikey and Steve say he is late or does not come to the monday morning meetings, but my take is that they are not mandatory and not necessarily directed at the driver. As long as communication stays good with the team, WHO CARES.

As for Jr. sexuality, anybody who is a gordon fan will agree that IS NONE OF ANYONE'S BUSINESS BUT THERE OWN. I don't feel that has a place here. Ever hear of keeping your private life private.

see what happens when ya start passin beers around......starts out as a nice jesture, but watch out..

Yes, I know Kelly stepped away from racing. The point is both her and her brother Kerry did not have the same advantages or even the same attention that Lil'E had growing up. With Sr. moving from wife to girlfriend to wife, etc. they were lost in the shuffle. Paul started this thread thanking the Lil'E folks for their due diligence and perhaps I only throw out the innuendos of Lil'E to counter all of the Gordo and Jimmie rumours a lot of the Lil'E crowd likes to spew in defense of their hatred of all things Hendrick. (Except possibly TL). As I stated somewhere I really don't have 1 driver I pull for. There are several I pull against however.

A lot of books, stories and articles have been written about Dale Sr. As one of his fans I read what I could about him. All of the stories are not positive but then he never claimed to be a Saint.

oh man.....watch out now!!!......beers are comin from every direction!!

Yeah,,,this ain't as fun as 'fussin',but it's still pretty cool.

Bunch of drunk Jr. fans!!!! :stickdance: :stickdance: :stickdance:

HEY, I haven't givin' anyone a beer...so these are on me! :)

Every good story has to have a villain. Someone that everyone likes to hate. Looks like Jr. Has to play that role. Here is a few more.

Bottom line.

now see..this is why I like paul.....you read this and think thanks for the compliment, but then you have to pause just for a second and "look" around for the ole hook because you know there is always a chance (even if its a slim one)he's danglin it..... ;) :D

since its mornin, these are filled with some good ole coffee....

I'll ad a few kudos myself. Most of you seem to be pretty realistic about what is going on. Some still live in their own little imaginary world where we are all just making this stuff up, but most of you seem pretty realistic and good-natured about it. :salute:

:dpepsi: :dpepsi: :dpepsi: :dpepsi: :dpepsi:

Don't drink coffee, so here's a few pepsi colas to pass around! And you are right hooty, you definitely have to be on your toes with Paul! He's a sneaky little devil, but I have to believe he's sincere about this statement ( looks around just to make sure ) We'll salute it with a brew later on in the day! ;)
