I agree that they have probably reached their peak but I don't know how long the plateau is atop that peak, maybe several more seasons.I'd say all those guys have reached their peak too.

If they'er good enough and have the patience, atop the peak in a vacated spot.I imagine Kenseth would love to see how his sons career has panned out. What else to accomplish but race against his kid? Harvick loves to race and feels like he just rejuvenated his career with SHR. Like Kenseth literally did this year, and Jimmie Johnson is here to break records. ATLEAST a decade in all three of those drivers IMO.
I really wonder where the up and comers are supposed to end up..
That has been his problem for most of his career after Sr. passed, don't know what you call it, lack of attention to details, numerous pit row speeding penalties etc. this year, after he blew up in the chase and all the pressure was off, he drove the wheels off the car, reminded me of when he was back in a Nationwide car. He even bumped a couple of cars that took his line.Has Jr ever even been in contention? I think he'd fold...
I wouldn't mind seeing him win it.. I've just never seen him be the guy who has what it takes... You know that Montoya won as much as Jr in the time from when he started NASCAR until now?.... Thats a big part of it.. he's not gona win a cup if he can't even win races. This. The 88 team were in position to win several times this year, it just didn't happen. There is a difference in contending for wins and not winning, and not being good enough to even be in contention for a win.
I wouldn't make too much out of the 88 not winning this year. They are good enough to win.
The team seems to be getting better.
I'm not saying he's going to win the championship next year. There was a time when he was a championship contender.A decade ago. Drivers are Athletes, and older athletes on the wrong side of 35 don't do as well as the younger ones. His Window is closed.
I still think he's a nice guy though.
He did win one race that year. But yes, I agree with what you're saying.Edwards almost won the championship in 2011 with no wins... Just sayin. And Earnhardt does have great consistency. Hes gotta be better at the last 25% of the race though. He tends to fade just a touch at the end
