I love short track racing (Taylor's Version)
If I were those two, I'd either sit out during their respective 150 or I'd start and park. They have to start at the back anyways for the 500.
Are they both locked into the field? I know Tony would be because he's a past champion but where did Danica finish last year?
So Danica has no choice but to finish at least 3 or four spots from the rear in her duel no?Tony is, Danica isn't. Drivers locked in are Dillon and Truex (front row), Biffle, Edwards, Newman, and Keselowski (fast times), Johnson, Kenseth, Busch, Junior, Gordon, and Bowyer (owner's points), and Stewart (most recent champ since Kes timed in).
They have to start at the back for their Duel race, not the 500.
They have to start at the back for their Duel race, not the 500. After the Duels and before happy hour, everybody will have a engine change without penalty.
Because all three drivers had what NASCAR termed "unapproved" engine changes, Stewart, Patrick and Labonte will all have to drop to the rear of the field prior to the start of the Daytona 500 and will begin the race at the back of the pack.

I didn't I guess I misinterpreted the rules there as I just read it's for both duels and 500. Which seems like total BS to me.Where did you read that?
It is big time bs. I know starting position doesn't mean much but that's not the point.I didn't I guess I misinterpreted the rules there as I just read it's for both duels and 500. Which seems like total BS to me.

Yea sounds screwed upBeing penalized twice for one blown engine doesn't make much sense to me. Especially when everybody is gonna change them after the Duels.
I think it is more along the lines of competition, to keep them from changing 5 engines, Helps the smaller teams to compete if they know everyone has the same rules in changing engines.Being penalized twice for one blown engine doesn't make much sense to me. There's no way in hell NASCAR lets Danica miss the 500.So Danica has no choice but to finish at least 3 or four spots from the rear in her duel no?
Yep just like no way they were going to let the 3 not win the pole today! There's no way in hell NASCAR lets Danica miss the 500.
She could pull a...well, a Danica...and crash out like last year, no?There's no way in hell NASCAR lets Danica miss the 500.
These pictures are actually from two years ago, but Brian France might go the Jeff Gordon route and write in a 44th starting spot for Danica if she doesn't make it inShe could pull a...well, a Danica...and crash out like last year, no?

There were enough SHR cars pointed the wrong direction on Saturday night to where that wouldn't even seem suspicious.Or she could have a teammate spin himself out.
I think you can only change the engine after the duels.. I know during this week they can use 2.. but I think they have to practice and qualify the same one and are allowed to change it before the race... so I think its just that she didn't qualify with the engine she will race with... they still may change it again... if not I wouldn't be surprised if she blows up again in the 500.I don't understand why they were penalized to start in the back of the 500 for blowing the engine's in practice? Since they hadn't qualified yet, they should be able to race to a better position in the duels. Another dumb rule NASCAR has come up with...

Understand your point as well. Just My Opinion
Boy, how time flies, my bad! She was locked in on points in 2012, right? These pictures are actually from two years ago, but Brian France might go the Jeff Gordon route and write in a 44th starting spot for Danica if she doesn't make it in
IIRC, the Tommy Baldwin Racing points got her in. I could be mistaken though.Boy, how time flies, my bad! She was locked in on points in 2012, right?
Yeah I think so...and last year she was in on the pole. But if she crashed out in the duel on Thursday like she did in 2012 she'd be out of the 500, no?IIRC, the Tommy Baldwin Racing points got her in. I could be mistaken though.

You scared of this?If he does it for Jeff Gordon , won't the Danica fans be mad ?
