Danica to get owner points from Baldwin? Reutimann in the #10? Danica Patrick will be a guaranteed starter in the 2012 Daytona 500, using owner points from Tommy Baldwin Racing. Multiple sources say a deal is nearly complete to make Patrick a guaranteed starter in Stewart Haas Racing's #10 Chevy in the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup season opener, using owner points accrued last season by driver Dave Blaney in TBR's #36 Chevy. Blaney will now be forced to qualify for the "Great American Race" on time. Patrick is scheduled to run approximately 10 Sprint Cup races this season, and TBR driver David Reutimann will run many of the events Patrick does not; also in the #10 machine. While Patrick will drive Stewart Haas cars purchased from Hendrick Motorsports in her 10 races, Reutimann will steer Baldwin's cars in his outings. TBR will reportedly receive technical and pit crew support from SHR as part of the deal.(Sirius Speedway)(1-30-2012

So now they can swap car numbers and points between teams during the coarse of the year?

Sounds like some much needed help for Baldwin and Reutiman , no losers here.

So the car points now belong to the car # and not the team owner? I'm glad Danica will be in the 500 but I'm confused about how the Top 35 points are "Owned"???

Starting to sound like a swingers party.A whole lot of swappin going on.

no joke. So TBR gets suport from SHR which is really Ricks' 5th/6th/7th teams. So now TBR is part of hendrick. Which makes the 36 car #8 (the 10 is car #7 ). So Rick has basically doubled the size of his team and now assists almost 1/4 of the field

Saw this elsewhere. Funny thing is, I almost believe it.....

If a points-swap to get Danica into the Daytona 500 wasn't possible, NASCAR would have likely introduced the Past-Maxim provisional.

I'm with ya' on all this point swapping, so for my sanity I just don't worry about it. As for Patrick, she's just another driver as far as I'm concerned but the hype will be intolerable - at least for me.

I've been thinking about it and I've decided that Danica Patrick Winning the Daytona 500 is'nt as far fetched as many think, she has more experiance at Daytona than last years Winner Trevor Bayne, she has better equipment ( Hendricks and last years Cup Champion don't forget both Tony and Ryan always run well at Daytona ) better support again Hendricks and SHM, plenty of drafting partners ( the Whole Chevy camp ) and NASCAR would surely through any calls her way.........she's virtually a shoe in!

What is all the fuss about Hendrick engines ? Hasn't Roush built every Ford engine in the past several years ? Who cares ?

could someone please screw my head back on. it fell off and rolled towards the corner...i think. can't see without my head. :(

Not more experience but the rest is mostly true.

Very Funny $hit

Wow, I want some of whatever you are smoking. I need a break from reality too.

Tony Stewart hasn't won a 500 but danica is a shoe in?

I can't take the sarcasm.

Dale Sr . and others also had trouble trying to win the 500. As easy as it seems to win sometimes , it is probably the most difficult race to win . Weird.

I was just wondering if somebody can explain how 2 different owners can use the same points?

They Can't
Oh ok, so Reutimann will have to qualify for every race til he gets in top 35? But since he and Danica both are driving the #10 for different owners I'm all confused on how that works as far as points go.

Trevor Bayne has more experiance than Danica Patrick?

Multiple times I've seen post's that ANYONE can Win at a Restrictor plate race, now suddenly it's imposible for a driver with experiance, great equipment and NASCAR's backing???

If David Ragan can win there, anyone can win there.

I was thinking the same thing. If anyone can win a plate race, surely that includes Patrick. Would I put any money on it? No chance in hell.

You are confusing me!!!! The 10 is "owned" by SHR the points Go to SHR...Ruti will not have to qualify for the 4 races after the D500, because he will be in the 10...Baldwin gave his points to the 10 team.

Is that what you are asking?

I'm thinking the same thing.I don't ever remember two supposedly different teams sharing a car number during the year?

I don't mean to confuse anybody, I just really don't understand this. I know Danica will drive for Tony and Reutimann for TBR. The confusing part is they both will drive the 10 and Reutimann will race many of the races Danica doesn't. So don't that mean there will be 2 different teams using the same points?

Where are you getting that the 10 is owned by 2 teams?????

How do you know when Ruti drives for TBR it is going to be the 10? The article DOES NOT say what car # it will be
