Quite a spectacle when they came to town. I used to watch them race in the river at Kankakee Illinois. Miss Budwiser and Miss Bardahl were the two front runners. A whole lot of beautiful mahogany was used to build those boats and the sound was something else

I never got to see them live in person, always wanted to, but, when I was a kid we would catch some on Wide World of Sports. I always thought they were bad to the bone. The chances of surviving a blow over were slim to nun. It took some big cohonies to pilot one of those at speed.
