Daytona 500 rain delay draws more viewers than NBA

All they did for the rain delay was replay last years race and play Bob's burgers?Half of those people thought they were watching the real race.

Still didn't beat Duck Dynasty.I think.

Kinda comparing apples and oranges here. Biggest race of the year vs 1 NBA game in an 82 game season. I'm sure the NBA finals will beat whatever race is that same weekend. Now if Daytona beats an NBA Finals game, then I'll be impressed.

The Daytona 500 is always the most watched race of the season. However, with JR winning I'm expecting an increase for the Phoenix race. Guess we'll see.

By the way, a dog show should have better ratings than basketball;)

I wonder what ratings for the race would have been if the rain didn't come. rating was cut in half from last year

I guess all the people who threatened to quit watching NASCAR because of the new Chase tuned in anyways.

Yep, you got me. I was one of those that contemplated giving up on NASCAR, but FB and a few others convinced me to just watch for the individual races and not the championship. Obviously, I watched the 500 and enjoyed every bit of it. I have no problem admitting it. It was a great race all the way around.

That doesn't mean I'm now a fan of the new Chase, though. I'll try to keep an open mind, but as of right now, I'm just hoping Jimmie Johnson overcomes the new system that was probably created to try to stop his domination of the Cup series and wins his 7th title this year.

Race was in primetime and against the Olympics and FOX still topped the 10pm hour.

I'd really like to see the race in primetime from now on.

The bottom line is, with all the talk about declining ratings, NASCAR is still a ratings titan topped only by the NFL.

With an 82 game regular season and 16 of 30 teams making the playoffs, NBA regular season games are pretty meaningless. Doesn't surprise me at all that they got beat by the '13 Daytona 500.
