Daytona "Wide Open" on TNT!

Way to go NASCAR, you've got another plate race finished with several wrecked up racecars.

Someone else is gonna get killed one day. They won't change anything until it happens

Congrats Fat Tony. Why you signed off on being sponsored by Burger King is still beyond me though(although I will admit he looks more slim than usual this year).

Kyle did that to himself. Tony has nothing to beat himself up about.

You are absolutely correct. This type of blocking should have no complaints when someone puts you in the wall. One of these days Kyle is going to learn that drivers are getting tired of his crazy blocking antics.

but it does at Daytona and that's why you DON'T BLOCK like he did at DAYTONA
I didn't know there were rules against blocking.

Better than adding another unenforceable rule, TAKE THE DAMN PLATES OFF!

No ones fault here but Nascar, remember the yellow line rule and what happend to Regan Smith? They put him the last car on the lead lap so Tony sure as hell wasnt going to risk a 28th place finish and Kyle sure as hell wasnt going to settle for second, end result simular to Talladega except Kyle didnt get hit when his back tires left the ground but right after.

Hopefully he learned something tonight. The video when the safety crew was stuffing him into the pickup truck he looked a little confused. It was 2 heavy hits in a row he took.

But when you try to block a guy that has his bumper up to your right rear tire you got no body to blame but yourself.

Kyle Busch is going to have a Hell of a time getting anyone to draft with him from now on.

Yea but you know he's not going to see it that way

I can't wait to hear what Kyle has to say...oh wait, the baby didn't win and won't talk to anybody. I've got to think, all these people who have jumped on the KB bandwagon are starting to see what a pu%&y he is. I for one would be embarrassed to say I'm a Kyle Busch fan after the antics of the last couple months. The kid can drive sure, but what an idiot!

"They're going to kill someone one day if they keep this up." Think about it, this is probably the dumbest statement, especially now.

Look, a few short weeks ago, we saw Calr Edwards involved in one of ugliest, most violent looking crashes in a race in a long, long time. The driver got out and jogged across the finish line! With thhe safety features of the cars, helmets, HANS devices, etc the drivers have today, there won't be a death in the COT unless a shortcuts one of those saftey features. And that could happen almost anywhere.

Now, take off the plates, and what will heppen? Sure, you may not get the huge packs, but you'll damn sure have multiple cars still running together. And if a wrekc happens then, with the cars travelling closer to 230, someone will get killed.

Bottom line, simply taking the plates off is not the answer.

At first I didn't like the "Wide Open" coverage because it seemed like every 3 minutes they wold cut into live coverage. Then I realized how good of a thing that is. KP and WD need to be in the NASCAR East series where no one would see or hear from them again.

Used to run big blocks, 426,427's. Speeds got up there and they went to 'small blocks', the 350 platform. Now the small blocks are putting out more hp then the big blocks ever did due to technology. The advances in design with the bodies being more aerodynamic also contributes to increased speeds.

Drop down to the 5.0 platform, 302's, and get rid of the plate all together.

Nationwide, Trucks and ARCA don't run the COT.

These guys are smart, if they take the plates off, they'll know when to back off.

Nationwide, trucks and ARCA don't have 850+ hp under the hood either.

A driver is going to take whatever that motor will give him and still be wanting more.

Also, as a former driver I take great offense of you referring to drivers as "smart".:D:beerbang:

Plate racing killed Dale Earnhardt. Instead of fixing the problem then, they've added a bunch of rules to circumvent the problem.
That's your opinion, but certainly not that of many others. There were many reasons for DE's death and DE himself was part of the cause. I know you are young, but you can use the search button to research your arguments a bit more.

We're supposed to be happy with it because it was Kyle Busch who could've been killed and not Junyer, Gordon or Stewart.

A couple things killed Dale. A lack of really good safety features....and (I know this will piss some people off) blocking. Yes, Earnhardt was doing some major blocking at the end of that race, and without that blocking, he may have lost a couple spots, but would probably still be alive.

The angel of the car with Schrader pushing his sideways he could not stop or slow down. The car was "pinned" if schrader hit higher or lower it would of spun DE. His lap belt was not instailled right. Bill Simpson even told him that but Dale said it was more comfy this way.

Even with a full face helmet I don't think it would of helped much.

But the brakes had nothing to do with it. I know a guy that worked for NASCAR over the investagaion and a lot gas been covered up

sorry I thought someone said breaks. I'm half blind and a sleep. Sorry

Plates don't drive the car. Drivers are in the seat, behind the steering wheel, with gas and brake pedals at their feet.

The drivers make the choices --- cars just do what they are told.

Had Dale Sr. been wearing a HANS device, I believe he would still be alive.
Yes, his old school mentality was a large part of the tragedy, but things have certainly got alot better.

Hell, remember McDowell at Texas last year? 10 years ago, hell maybe 5 years ago no one would of walked away from that wreck.

Fireworks, hot dogs and NASCAR at Daytona! What can be more American than that? :salute:

TNT still hasn't made any mention of the missing Weber.

I love fireworks, but my damn neighbors have been shooting them off in their open field for two and a half hours now. I can hardly hear the race over them.

They must've spent tens of thousands of dollars on fireworks man, because this is the longest lasting fireworks show I've ever seen or heard. And it ain't even any good.

I believe they're just being Americans.

Dale was blocking but not for himself that day. He was blocking for Mikey and Jr who were in front of him. He was afraid some of the others would hook up and run them down.

And? Blocking is blocking. Result was still the same.

I do not really buy this. I belive he would of won the race if he could of gotton up there.
