Daytona

Way to go Newman

Glad Tony only beleives in teamwork when he is ahead of his teammate, was afraid one of them yotas was going to win that thing. Congrats Newman on a great win with 2 teammates that really worked together to make it happen.

The way I understood it was Kyle went below the yellow line and had to back off so as not to improve his position. I believe that is what screwed things up, not Tony.
 
Bottom line..Dodge won, Tony and Kyle got beat.

So much for the two fastest car.
 
All during this week, we heard how the Toyotas had the most horsepower, followed by Hendricks and then Childress. The talk was that Dodge and Ford had a lot of work ahead of them. Hmmm, well it looks as though Dodge did the work while Ford lost out. Top 10...6 Dodges, 2 Toyotas, 1 Chevy and 1 Ford. Robby Gordon in a Dodge finished ahead of both Chevy and Ford. :eek:
 
And Since the switch to the 88, we have heard how Jr. is going to win the 500. He didn't even beet Robbie!

He may have a chance at the other 3 plate races but i doubt it. Gibbs got the better driver in that deal. Hendrick is in for a long year.

Yep, there is more to racing than who has the fastest cars. I must admit that i was pretty surprised at Ryan bringing home the bacon. Again, kudos to him.

I'd have to say that was a very biased statement to say the least, Jr is more mature and will win a championship before Busch does. Busch is too much of a hothead on the track , one of these days some one will take him out becasue of his antics. Jr has a good finish in the Daytona 500 , doesn't win and already people are saying he is a has been......give me a break!!!:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
 
I don't think he's a has been but he is not as good as the NASCAR world makes him out to be. Daytona or Talladega or not really good traks to base a drivers ability on. Yea you have to be good but to win a lot of things have to go right.

Newman was at the right place at the right time and so was Kurt B. That could have been anyone of hose guys in the top 10. I don't think Newman would have won if Kurt did not happen to be there.
 
Well no Lil'E isn't a has been. To be a has been you 1st have to be something, or at least something more than the "Most Popular Driver" 5 times. His 2 Busch Championships seem so far away that the average person would have forgotten about them if the talking heads on TV didn't keep reminding us since that's pretty much all they can hang their hat own. Sure he has some talent but I don't know that he'll eclipse either of the Buschs in the driving arena.
 
Tony says that it was his biggest dissapointment in racing. He really screwed up when he left the high line to dip low to pick up Kyle. It cost him the lead and the race and he should know better than to rely on a kid that is unreliable. Kyle is frequently out of control with his driving decisions and once more he screwed up by being too agressive. Kyle had the fastest car by far and should have won the race. However, as proven, it takes more than a fast car to win.
 
RCR are you for anyone or just against everyone? Just wondering all I ever hear from you is complaints.;)

Like him or hate hime Jr. is really a down to earth guy that is more in tune with nascar than most guys. He knows the deal and i'd say that he has a damn good chance at winning a Cup this year.
 
I have to repsectfully disagree with that.

I find him somewhat high on himself.

How many down to earth people take their friends around the track at Daytona in a Suburban or have their face plastered over Walmart?

I'm not saying he's a not a nice guy as I don't personally know him but I get the feeling during his interviews that he feels above answering questions, impatient and just doesn't have the time.

Either way, life goes on :)
 
Well I spent the weekend at Daytona this weekend and I have to say, all the drivers are really nice, I think Jr is very nice but is shy, and he gets a little nervous at times, but has always been really nice.

Matt Kenseth and Patrick Carpentier are also really nice, and it's true niceness with both of them, Patrick was so out going this weekend, I got to hangout with him for awhile, as he said he's got the time this weekend lol.

My weekend didn't start out that well but it did end having a great time.

I think he is, if you could see him in person you would think the same thing.
It's kinda hard to stand up there and talk about your self, I think all the drivers are shy in their own ways
 
Yeah if you watch sifting gears, Jr is just a normal guy and sometimes the level his fan base makes him uneasy.
