What the hell man? Must have been. Gnarly sinus infection,..

Major bummer but I was shocked when the word came over the PA 30 minutes before the start.

Not to call him a pu$$y, but a little ironic right? ;) I know I'm a ****** person.

I was at work and saw on that phone that he wouldn't be racing. I was shocked that a sinus infection would keep him out of the race, but like we've said many times before...it doesn't matter. Get yourself a win, and you're in. Shoot, some of these guys could even take a month long vacation towards the end of the year...

I think to be eligible you need to run everything race thru the first 26.. May be wrong but I THINK he just gave up the season.

They said on TV as long as you're in the top 30 in points. I believe DW said it so take it for what it's worth.

Haha, hell, look at my two previous posts, I'm hardly coherent apparently, I'll take his word for it, screw it.

Hamlin is a pansy!!!!!

Nascar wouldn't let him race because he couldn't see well enough to do so.

As for the chase, you have to attempt to qualify for every race unless you have a medical exemption. I believe there may be some other situations where an exemption can occur but it's likely up to Nascar's discretion.

I think Cali has him psyched out.

LOL he was tweeting while the race was going on.

The guy is a weakling.
Hamlin is a pansy!!!!!
Can y'all elaborate? How does one having an infection so bad he couldn't see straight and then being forced to sit out making him a weakling or a pansy? Tweeting during a race he otherwise would have been in is a bad thing? wtf else was he supposed to do? He showed up to race and had no intentions of sitting out until NASCAR didn't clear him. May I remind you he raced the last half of the year last season with severe neck pain. In years past he beat the field at Texas just 2 days after his grandmother died. He won at Martinsville with a freshly torn ligament in his left knee. He went on a winning streak a few races later as well after the surgery. Believe it or not, Denny is one tough motherphucker.

I bet if Joey had a torn ligament in his knee and was clear to race he'd probably throw a water bottle at NASCAR & go hide in the grandstands.

Dear Mr. Brain
Please excuse Denny from today's race.

Denny's Mother

some may be to young to remember that from Mr. Kotter
I once spent a night in the ER getting IV antibiotics because of a severe sinus infection. Hurts like he77

If he had a problem with his vision then nascar made the right choice. I'm glad he did set this race out. If he would have accidently ran into Joey because of his lack of vision...we would never hear the end of it.

DAMN! But you people are harsh! Guess none of you have had a serious sinus infection. It can put you out of commission and cause absolute pain and discomfort. I'm no fan of Denny Hamlin and would not criticize him because of a medical condition that rendered him unable to perform safely in a race. I guess those who are criticizing him are trying to annoy his fans because there is no other logical reason to be critical, especially knowing the circumstances and risks involved.

anyone laughing at him for sitting because of a sinus infection is an idiot. I suffer from really bad sinus infections. They just arent stuffy noses and drainage. Try headaches so bad it feels like an ice pick going through your brain, and not being able to open your eyes for sometimes hours at a time.
Exactly, had same thing here. Especially the "ice pick" migraine. I thought migraines were just "bad headaches" until I got my first sinus infection.

me too. my first migraine i thought i was having a brain aneurysm was going to die. no one had told me just how bad migraines were. those damn advil commercials didnt prepare me for that experience.

one time I got one so bad that I made my wife call my father in law to come in the middle of the night to watch my daughter as she drove me to the ER. By time we got there it had passed. I felt so bad, my father in law even saw me crying, but damn the pain had me on my knees.

My youngest daughter gets migraines, they last for hours and she gets extremely ill. doesnt seem to be any treatment that works. She doesnt even know what brings them on, they just happen

I was just playing. Thanks to those who clarified about the championship eligibility.

My uncle used to suffer from them really bad. Had a few surgeries and he's been better the past 5 years or so.
The ears, nose, and throat are crazy and if something's outta whack, it can affect everything.

Anyway sorry if I offended you. It was all in fun.

You didn't offend me. I used the word idiot to its literal meaning: "a foolish or stupid person". I just wanted to make sure people didn't think he was sitting out with a common cold. A lot of people don't quite understand how bad sinus infections really are. I am not a fan of Denny, but I can totally see why he was sat out yesterday.

Ha, well chit, sorry if I came off like an idiot then. I wonder how po'd he was to leave.

probably really pissed off. Also he wasn't the only one bad off. I was listening to a segment on Nascar radio with Todd Parrott and he sounded by too. Apparently there is some bad crud going around the garage.

Sorry reck, going to have to call you out on this one. You dont know what you are talking about.

No ofense taken my friend. :)

With that said when I said "weakling" I mean more in general. Here is a guy that is always complaining about how things never go his way, cries like a baby when he loses and puts blame on others when things simply dont go his way.

He's mentally weak as well as physically. Just look at the dude's history. Almost fainted after the texas race in 2008, throws a fit in 2010 when when he had that pit miscue at Phoenix that affected his championship coming into Homestead. (spun) Then last year he gets into it with Logano of all people and ends up done for the year for a "war" he started himself.

Ya'll want to throw this a guy pity party, go ahead but dont act like he's all innocent and beautiful.

Also I want to make it clear I didn't laugh at his current situation. Just at the tweeting part which I found ironic that he would take to such thing in his condiction.

But hey that's just me.
