Did anyone feel sorry for Jimmy?

Jimmy Spencer that is. Toward the end of the race Jimmy and Kurt were battling for position (somewhere around 5th if memory serves me correctly) and Jimmy couldn't get around Kurt. It went on for 4 or 5 laps and every time Jimmy got a run Kurt would pull to the bottom and take his line away. That went on until Jimmy apparently used up his tires. It seemed to me that at that point Jimmy was obviously faster than Kurt but couldn't move Busch out of the way to make the pass........his hands were tied!!:( If he touched Kurt, even incidentally, the whole world would have been in Jimmy's face for "dirty driving". It's a shame that a driver can't drive aggressively because he's perceived to be a rough or dirty driver.......and Kurt took full advantage of it too. I say Kurt got his break Saturday.......it's all even now and next week it's fair game for both.:D

Well as a card carrying member of the Jimmy Spencer Fan club, I would have to agree with you. If it had been anyone else they would have bumped and run. But with their past history, his hands were tied. I wonder if Kurt would have done the same or took his chance with Nascar? Jimmy's fighting for his ride next year and can't afford too many mess-ups for the rest of the year. Kurt has job security.

My point sgbg.......he had a top five car but couldn't make it work because he was on eggshells. Hope it doesn't happen next week.

I actually want Jimmy to win a race.........not just a good finish. Then I can go back to bashing him in fun again like I used to.:)

Yes, I feel sorry for any driver that nascar has throttled. I say burn the big red trailer and let em race, which is why it doesn't bother me that jr punted ward, or robbie jimmie, or jeffie rusty, or anybody anybody.

Let em race and let em work it out. If ya want a show, try Broadway.

Well both Kurt and Jimmy ran pretty good the other night, and I agree Jimmy was minding his manners...still not sure if Kurt feels they are even though.

I still believe Kurt thinks revenge is a dish best served cold!:D

I can just see Kurt sitting in his car smiling the whole time. He knew Jimmy couldn't do anything and he loved it! I do want Jimmy to win one too, he's working his butt off and needs a win. I feel bad for him and can't "pick" as normal. But after the win, he's fair game again!:p

i hate Jimmy....but he handled that situation perfect the other night at Bristol....he knew everyone was watching him.

Well the war would be on then........and that would fun to watch too!! You have to remember though 97, Jimmy's been at it a lot longer than Kurt. He may be biting off more than he can chew!! Bit ears aren't a match for a big belly!!:D

Hate is a very serious word, :(

Here, have a donut.:p

Personally, I thought Jimmy handeled himself well, and thanks sgbg for supplying the Kremes. PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

LOL...a good point,Wrangler! I really don't dislike ol'Jimmy either, and if Jimmy could turn up the competitive level a notch it would really be fun watching him and Kurt every week! They seem like natural rivals to me:thin vs.-uh-not thin...Dodge Vs.Ford...veteran vs. newcomer!

Hey, I try to please, since I don't drink, I'll supply the donuts for everyone. KK is just up the road from me. :D

That was you Lap3 that cut my tire so I couldn't get Jimmy his donuts at Michigan!! I thought I saw someone sneaking around that day! :p

Maybe it's in his genes..... actually 6'1" and 220 ain't all that bad. My ex was about that at the time of the divorce in '88.
Mikey is taller, but weighs about the same, just looks thinner in Blue.

Well, maybe you're right, Kat.

If he got his teeth fixed, he might not be half bad. :D

Jimmy's from PA. Sort of stretching the Mason Dixon Line a little to reach that far north.:)

Hey, technically, Jimmy is a Yankee -- he's from Pennsylvania, right? As Appalachian as they can get in PA, he was still born (not stillborn) north of the Mason Dixon line, no? -- Someone help me out with this, please. :)

Hey, DE! You beat me to it! I was too busy researching maps to finish my reply. Dang...

I know everyone picks at Spencer, hell he's such an easy Target (pun intended). But I have not one thing against him, and wish he would win a race. I've noticed this about him: He runs terrible in hot weather. I will refrain from any hot weather/weight remarks. But his better runs seem to come early and late in the season. Just a little something from your ol' buddy TWF...

I agree with you, TWF. I wish he'd win a race. :)

And lose a little weight. That might help with his endurance in the hot months. No, seriously...

Spencer is far from one of the worse drivers in Winston Cup.......but he's quite a bit shy of one of the best too!:) He has moments of brilliance and moments of real boneheadedness......but mostly he just runs a fair race. I know Jimmy drives for Chip Ganassi and he probably gets as good equipment as Sterling......but I doubt Jimmy and Chip are really good friends. Chemistry is a huge part of successful teams and the two are very competitive and bull headed....I see that as a possible reason Spencer has been rather inconsistant. Maybe if rumors are true and Jimmy gets let go it would be best in the long run.....I'm sure he would pick up a ride fairly easily (if for no other reason, just the publicity that his "Mr Excitement" title brings). I think that if he gets with a team that he can be more comfortable with he may wind up being a lot less shy of "one of the best". He often takes bad raps for incidents (though not always!!:) ) but he's a pretty darn good driver.

Just my thoughts.

Nope, don't feel sorry for Spencer. Again, nothing against him but he and Kurt have made their own beds/tracks. However you want to put it. LOL Think their fun to watch and I agree with whoever said "Kurt was probably grinning from ear to ear" with Jimmy behind him. Thought Jimmy did do a good job though and respect him for that .

Yeah, it didnt seem real, more like wwf, cant bump, and bang because big brother NASCAR is watching. NASCAR could totally ruin the sport someday.

I did feel sorry for Jimmy, he had a fast car but Busch was in front of him and he couldn't do anything about it. How long will he have to wait until he can race Kurt Busch without having to fear wrecking Kurt?

I must say that Im not a big fan of Jimmy Spencer. But I agree that he handled that situation with class and dignity. I have to tip my beer to him (when I drink one again its 10:00 AM and im not tailgaiting so its to early) but I think that Kurt Busch was intentionally doing that. And if I were Jack Roush i probably would have a talk with the kid because he could have ruined a good finish and a good race car.
