DIRT Motorsports, Inc. Purchases UMP
By Doc Lehman

After a couple weeks of rumors and speculation about a possible buy-out of United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) by DIRT Motorsports, Inc., it now appears that it is indeed a fact. Dirt America Online has learned from high-level sources that DIRT Motorsports, Inc., has purchased and acquired the entire United Midwestern Promoters organization. While DAO was unable to get anyone in management to speak on the record due to pending SEC filings, DAO did speak with officials on both sides during the past several days and has since learned that the acquisition is a done deal The legal paperwork has been signed and financial transactions have been made according to officials and DIRT Motorsports, Inc., now own the United Midwestern Promoters organization fully. The financial transaction, according to officials, was made on Thursday December 2.

The United Midwestern Promoters organization was founded in 1983 by the late Bob Memmer who passed away on July 8, 2004 after a lengthy illness. Memmer is an inductee to the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Class of 2002. Memmer had turned control and ownership over to Ken Schrader, Robert Lawton, Bob Sargent and Howie Commander in November 2002. On August 13, 2004 UMP announced the purchase of the Xtreme Dirt Car Series. The transaction and acquisition of UMP by DIRT Motorsports, Inc., was completed on Thursday December 2, 2004.

DIRT Motorsports, Inc., officials will be making public statements and divulging more details at a press conference scheduled for Thursday December 9, 2004 in Indianapolis, IN at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show. At that time, according to officials, more information will be released about the direction and intentions that DIRT Motorsports, Inc., has for their dirt Late Model properties.

On Thursday December 2 an article appeared on Dirt America Online for less than an hour before being pulled after DAO received some late information from a source that put some detail in the story in question by DAO editorship. DAO editorship, concerned that something possibly could be inaccurate in the report, exercised caution and removed the article until additional confirmation of facts could be obtained. Upon further research DAO concluded early on December 3, from original and additional sources, that the acquisition had indeed taken place on December 2.

The article on Dirt America Online was 100% accurate and factual, stated one official.

As stated previously, more details about the information in the article and future plans will be announced publicly by DIRT Motorsports, Inc., officials on Thursday December 9, 2004 at the PRI Show in Indianapolis, IN, according to officials.
