Discussion On The Sprint Unlimited

This will be an interesting race for sure. I'm happy everyone will see how the new car races at Daytona before the 500.

What are there ? Three segments ? Lets see , Jimmy Johnson and a couple of others will stay near the back for the first two segments .Thinking everyone else will get out of the way when they make their move to the front in segment three . The slower idiots at the front , not knowing their role , will refuse to get out of the way . The result will be a crash fest segment three .

No Keselowski but.....

Terry Labonte, who won the 1985 edition of The Sprint Unlimited, will drive Frank Stoddard's No. 32 Ford in Saturday night's season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway at 8:10 p.m. ET on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Labonte replaces two-time Sprint Unlimited winner Ken Schrader.

I really like that they went back to the qualifications for this race that they did. Pole winners and past winners of this race is way better than just about everyone making the show. It puts more emphasis on the qualifying and rewards the driver/team accordingly. I think this was a good move by whomever thought it up.

I'm not big on the gimmicks that they add to these events though. Set the rules so everyone knows what they are going in, line them up and let's race. Their 30-25-20-lap format sounds fine to me but let's keep it that way for years to come. Quit changing up the format each time this race is run.

Put me down as an idiot.

I am voting for taking two cars out because I think it will keep people from sandbagging in the first two segments.

Wait a second , if it does it's job and keeps anybody from sandbagging , then two perfectly good cars are going to be eliminated .Cars that otherwise deserve to be there.

The more I think about this being able to vote for driver elimination in the segments the more it sounds like advocating start & park. o_O Okay, not exactly. Anyhow, I understand the idea about trying to eliminate sandbagging but I guess I don't worry about that too much because that's not my drivers modus operandi. Cool, I never thought I'd be able to use that. Unless my driver gets orders from above, (Rick Hendrick), telling him that he has to fall to the back to help Double J, then I'm not concerned. Jimmie Johnson and a few others tend to use that strategy and I guess if that's okay with his fans why should I worry about it? Drop the green already!

Shame on you DP, you are not supposed to use words like that and put in a disclaimer, it takes the fun out. :p

Yes, I like that it was put back to the old format. It makes sense again. It sucks for you that your driver isn't there. I understand that. I've had to deal with that myself before. I'll let you root for mine if you'd like.

Why do you keep bringing Brad into everything? :p

Terry Labonte

Oh, My Dog...

Not that Kez deserves to be in, based upon the entrance requirements - but isn't The Ice Man like 100 years old?
I guess that cryogenics has finally merged with NASCAR. ;)

Where's Richard Petty when we need him? :D

He's been a sourpuss ever since he found out that "BAD BRAD THE WORLD CHAMPION OF NASCAR AND ALL THINGS WISE AND TRUE" will not be in the shootout. Shutout of the shootout so to speak. :p

Aren't you supposed to be out killing mammals? :D

I agree. He was starting to get bearable there for a while and then he started the two and three Keselowski thread a day thing again. I guess he's entitled being a fan of the defending champ and all. He needs to live it up while he's got the opportunity.

I was just trying to throw him a bone there letting him root for my driver but he'd rather dwell in his own sorrows. :( :p

I dont kill mammaries, I like mammaries, a lot of them anyway. Taking my midday break, about time to go chase bambi sr, just 10 days of deer hunting left.

This is a picture from the camper of the horse farm where Ive been staying during hunting season. Its a half a mile from our 1800 acre hunting club. Quiet, peaceful, serene, that is until I see a buck. :D

Wrecking already. Kurt gets into Kenseth and turns him. Kurt, Kenseth, Martin, JPM getting damage.

Kenseth is just an idiot. Ain't the last lap of the 500. Does this qualify for our first Bonehead award of 2013?

The "Little Big One".

Half the field caught up in Matt's guffaw...

Destructor Plate Racing at it's finest!

Great job by Harvick to miss the carnage.
