I was just curious if anyone else besides me was going through this? I see a neurologist and she tries to help me. They are less frequent than they used to be but when I get them, they are bad. I am on medication for them, that really does help how many I get and how bad they get. I used to not be able to function at all.

My mother got them and would stay in a darkened bedroom for days. Now my daughter suffers from them too, she's home from work today with one. She does have some meds but they don't seem to help much.

My wife had a headache once.

I just powdered my ***** with crushed aspirin. Let her take it orally, or as a suppository, it was up to her.

She's not had another headache since.

They are terrible, debilitating. I hope your daughter feels better very soon.

I know your pain, lisa. My grandfather had them and was totally useless until they passed.

My mother had light ones --- she found relief by putting her hands and feet in warm water, and having an ice pack on the back of her neck. I have
no idea where she came up with that, but it seemed to help her.

My mother has them from time to time and I think I'm beginning to experience some of them too.

I dont usually get headaches but when I do they are killers. They are always concentrated on one spot. Its like being shot with a laser cannon.

Yeah, I remember when you used to get those...glad they are at least a little better now, Lisa girl. Hang in there.

I very very rarely get them. My daughter Steph has almost always suffered from them though..I know how painful they must be.

I'm back to having them again lately and i'm grinding my teeth. Not sure if both those things are related or not? I've got Imitrex but my insurance only pays for 6 pills a month.

I'm not REALLY a doctor( although I have probably used that line before..) but I do know that Steph also grinded her teeth when suffering with migraines..so yeah, imo it would be related. Get it checked out, better safe than sorry.

I'm also going through a LOT of stress right now. I've really got to quit grinding my teeth.

I too have suffered from migraines before. Been so bad that I would curl up on the bed in a dark room and cover my head with a pillow. I think a lot of it was due to stress. I got to a point where I could feel one coming on and would take an Excedrin Migraine tablet and lay down for awhile and it seemed to help a lot. I have heard that diet can cause some migraines. But I'm no doctor and what causes them in each individual seems to differ from person to person. I've had migraines and kidney stones that as far as pain I would rate them about the same. But lisa c I hope you can find the cause and get relief for yours I know it's hard to enjoy life when you are suffering from a migraine.

Thank you so much.

In my mid/late teenage years, I would get migraines once every couple months. They were TERRIBLE. First, my vision would get kind of blurry, like that feeling after a camera flashes in your eyes. 10-15 minutes later, the migraine feeling would start. It would get so bad that I would be sweating and shivering, then throw up a couple times, then lay in completely dark silence with a blanket and an ice pack on my forehead until I somehow managed to fall asleep. My head hurt so bad that I was completely nonfunctional. 5-6 hours later, I would wake up feeling a lot better.

I haven't had one in over 5 years. Thank God.

When my daughter gets them she grinds her teeth too, she was advised to get a mouth guard like football player use when trying to sleep.

I went to the Dr yesterday and my blood pressure was up. That could explain why I have been having so many migraines lately. They changed my blood pressure meds.

Looks like I'm a little late to this thread. I've had migraines throughout my life. Fortunately, they almost never get as bad now as they did when I was a child, though I seem to get mild ones more frequently now. As reck said, it's always concentrated in one particular spot. Sometimes medicine helps, sometimes it doesn't.

This is kind of gross, but when I was younger and got very severe migraines, sometimes I would throw up, and my migraine would stop instantly as I did that - both the intense throbbing and the intolerable pain!

I get them pretty rarely. My doctor just put me on a medication for them. It's called Toprimax or something like that. I've only been on it for a few days, and like I said they were infrequent, so I don't know if it is working or not. I never threw up with them, but I just get pretty blinding pain and a sensitivity to light and sound. I can usually lay in bed and use an ice pack on the back of my neck and it goes away eventually.

I had another one yesterday. I laid on my couch most of the day. One word...miserable. I love Fall but it doesn't like me.

Go to a store that has homeopathic remedies, these work much better than any of the mass produced Pharm stuff that is not only side effect prevalent, but very expensive!
