do you think it's a big deal daytona gets bigger ratings than Homestead finale?

29-4 said it the very best...... Daytona was where it all started...... that's where Big Bill and his buddys first put all this together... without them...... none of this would have happened. The beach races.... then Bill stuck his neck out to build the fastest track ever imagined at the time.... The only track that comes close to rivaling it is Darlington..... as far as history..... but...... Daytona is and always will be the Crown Jewel of Nascar......

Darlington needs its second date back IMO.

If Darlington is only going to have one date, it needs to move it back to the more friendly weather conditions of early May.

And yes, I do have tickets for next week.

I was there last year and didn't find it that bad as far as the heat (if you are talking about rain, I don't know enough). They moved it to night time which should be enough of a concession (I'd rather see the Southern 500 run in the daylight like the racing Gods intended).

No no no no no. You don't mess with the dates of the crown jewel races.
I've been there every race weekend since 2001 (or earlier), two years before they moved away from Labor Day. I've been there in September, November, April, and May. Anybody that thinks this event isn't a lot more fun in May than September must consider heat stroke as a viable method of altering one's reality.

In other words, f@ck that sh!t. But then, I'm on record here multiple times as regarding 'tradition' as a lousy reason to keep doing something.

I can see where the Labor Day date might be a problem for the office worker types who never see the sun except on the morning and evening trek to the car.... us other folks who labor every day in the heat....... hey........ no problem.......

I'm a traditionalist....... I was pissed as hell when it was moved......

More than the Chase, more than debris cautions, more than the COT, moving the Labor Day race from Darlington signaled to me that NASCAR under Brian France had lost its way. To me, it was like the New York Yankees moving to Toledo. The biggest insult possible to the fans who made the sport what it was. Bringing it back gave me a small ray of hope that things might be moving back in the right direction. It was a big reason I came back as a fan in 2015 after not watching in 2014 for the first time since I was a little kid. Keep it on Labor Day.

In the good ole days, the May race had better weather ‘n smaller crowds. Parked in the same guy’s yard across the road year after year. South of the Border sold the same fireworks May or September.
