Dolly has gone too far

Admittedly, I am NOT a fan of country music, so this may be old news to many of you. I just found out from a co-worker that Dolly Parton has recorded Stairway To Heaven. WHY????????? There are a few songs that should be left alone in their perfection; that is one of them. (Although a Frankie Goes To Hollywood type group called The Far Corporation also covered it...horrible.) What's next? Robert Plant gonna do 9 To 5? Shania doing L A Woman? Dolly is such a farce anyway.
 
Busted out laughing on the Metro yesterday when I read this part of a review of it in the Washington Post:

"Her up-tempo country rendering of "Stairway" has no more kitsch than the original, .... Parton even adds a few lines of her own -- "O the great almighty dollar / leaves you only lost and hollow" -- in an attempt to make some sense of the song's lyrical jumble.

There is one small bustle in her hedgerow, however: Whereas Robert Plant shrieked angstily, "To be a rock and not to roll," Dolly instead wails about being "a rock and not a roll," as if she longs to be a baked good, perhaps on the supper table alongside the country ham and gravy."

Good Lord, you'd think she could have at least have gotten the *&^$%%#^ lyrics right! I don't wanna hear it, I like the song and don't want to have it ruined for me. Gonna go home tonight and have a ZepFest.
 
too funny. i also heard that she is not going to sing it in concert because she doesnt want tomatoes thrown at her. smart lady, lol:p

There is only two things I really like about Dolly,And it isn't what she sings.:p
 
I got a song that should be left alone...Lynyrd Skynyrds Tuesdays gone witch metallica screwed up and also NO ONe needs to mess with Free Bird that is by far the very best song ever
 
You know the sad part about this is,she called Robert Plant,and asked to change the words.He said it wouldn't bother him at all.He would love for her to do this to his song. :chainsaw:
 
She screwed up that Collective Soul song too. I think it's name "Shine". I dunno if anybody has seen the video for it but she ripped it all to hell. I can only imagine how bad she screwed up a Zepplin song. Ugh. She needs to give it up. Her day is over.
 
Boobs attached to a Boob.I like her better in the movies.She admitted there is nothing real about her in an interview on Bob,and Tom radio show.

I used to buy into the Stairway to Heaven is the Number One Rock Song thing. I am past bored with Led Zeplin.

'I remember others laughing,and making fun of me...in my coat of many colors,that my mama made for me'!!Poetry,Dolly Bashers!Whoever 'led zeppelin'is,I doubt if they will ever have anything to equal Joleen or Yellow rose!And,as God is my witness,I have never heard 'stairway to heaven'.Not a Porter Waggoner song I bet.
 
I liked Metallica's cover of Tuesdays gone, but then again Metallica is the best band ever. But I agree that free bird should be not be messed with, stairway to heaven should have been left alone, it is a great song. I like lyrics that are somewhat confusing, they make ya think.:lol2: :smileyb: :lol2:

Just listen to Led Zepplin's "Stairway To Heaven" the long version 1 time, you'll get it.

Also listen to "Nights in White Satin" by the moody blues:)
 
Not trying to pick a fight here, but 97 forever, how much talent does it take to rhyme "me" with "me"? I hope you were being sarcastic. Personal taste is one thing, but c'mon. It'd be like AC/DC doing Your Cheatin' Heart, or The Backstreet Boys recording Great Speckled Bird or something. :D

I think AC/DC could do a Kick-a$$ version of " Yer Cheatin' Heart ".......I'd buy it........Frank Zappa & Weird Al RULE
 
I know,TWF.I could have picked a better verse at least!I just couldn't think of one when I posted that...and still can't come to think of it!Just a chidhood thing...it keeps twirling thru my mind.

Uh...anyway she has great breasts!
