Why don't people get it? 6 innocent people dead. A 21 year old female suspected of drunk driving is possibly facing 6 counts of vehicular manslaughter. She got on the freeway in her new Camaro, going the wrong way, transitioned to another freeway, going the wrong way, and plowed head-on into a Ford Explorer, collecting another vehicle. It's difficult to believe that the driver of the Camaro, seen in the video, survived.

We also had a wrong way crash locally here last night. A Expedition hit a Hyundai head on, killing 5. The driver of the Expedition and the four college students in the Hyundai. I would love to see harsher charges and punishment for drinking and driving, regardless if the accident led to a lose of life. There's people that have multiple DUI's and legally drive, it's ridiculous and 100% preventable.

Man, it's a no-brainer. Here in Cali, a deuce will end up costing you $10,000. A cab is about $40.
Choosing to drive intoxicated is one thing, killing someone because of your poor judgment is another thing. The lives of the families of six people will never be the same. A young girl's decision changed her life forever and ended the lives of six innocent people. Why don't people get it?

Ironically, I just watched that story on our local news. Unbelievably, there was cell phone video of the Expedition. Innocent college students lost their lives in that incident. 3 hours later, six lost their lives in California.

I don't get it either, maybe if they were charged with homicides and sentenced accordingly they'd take it more seriously. To me, I just can't see a difference between a cold blooded killing and killing someone drinking and driving. I'm sure the families of drunk driving victims can't see the difference either as the end result is the same.

From Wiki:
In the state of California, depending on the degree of recklessness and whether alcohol was involved, a person could be charged with progressively more serious offenses: vehicular manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, or second-degree murder. In any of these cases, the prosecution must prove that the driver committed some wrongful act (which could be a felony, a misdemeanor, an infraction, or a lawful act that might cause death) and that the wrongful act caused the collision and the death of the victim. Murder charges are usually reserved for the most egregious cases, such as a convicted DUI offender who drives recklessly while intoxicated and thereby causes a fatal collision.

Very sad....hard to believe anyone lived

Do you guys get wrong-way driver crashes alot?We get at least 1 a week it seems.

Just learned that the wrong-way driver of the Camaro had her license reinstated just days before this accident.
"...Tom Wait reports that according to the DMV, Culbreath’s license had been suspended twice previously – once in 2010 when she was 17 for excessive blood-alcohol content, and once for negligence in 2011. Her license was reinstated on February 4..."

Wow, WTF?

The first DUI is practically decriminalized in Wisconsin. A disgrace if you ask me. Especially for a state that is #1 or in the Top 5 of binge drinking per capita (depending on what study you look at).

One of the 6 killed in the accident was the sister of the driver of the Camaro. The sister's drivers license was suspended because of her own DUI. Given the history of the sisters, one could conclude that this incident was not an "accident". Both were well aware of the consequences of drinking and driving.
I wonder if this will play a part in her sentencing if she is found guilty of killing six people while intoxicated.
It's being reported that she was traveling at nearly 100mph, going the wrong way prior to the accident.

I'm just glad that she survived this "accident" so that she can face the consequences of her choices. She killed her sister. She may or may not care about the other people who she killed, but killing her sister has to hurt. She will almost certainly not be punished appropriately. She killed 6 people. They will excuse that in a way because she was drunk when she did it. However, she chose to get drunk and drive that car. Reportedly, she and her sister have done that before. This was no accident. She made those choices and those choices led to 6 people losing their lives. She should never draw a free breath ever again, just as her victims never will. But, she will, just like the POS who killed a very close friend of mine's 15 year old son years ago. He was out of the hospital and out of jail the next day.
