Dover needs to lose

I still stand firm in my position that if your driver won there on a regular basis you would not complain...
My favorite (Junior) always does well at Daytona and Talladega and I can't stand restrictor plate racing. He typically never runs well at the road courses and I love those.

And for the record, I actually do like Johnson, and Chad too. I love Chad. So, once again, my dislike of Dover has nothing to do with Jimmie Johnson.

Ok, I understand what you are saying, but there is a HUGE difference in "doing well" and "WINNING". It just wouldn't make sense for you to hate the track that Jr. "WON" at all the time...not to mention you then saying you think they should take that track out of the schedule.

don't throw dover under bus just yet.
fall dover race is gonna be much better.....at least on tv.
4 teams gonna get knocked outta chase after it ends.
tv cameras will be focused on that ....not leader....ie 48

I thought the whole point of Nascar maybe someday adding a race on dirt was to add more diversity . I wouldn't mind a race on dirt but I sure don't want 30 of them . I want to see Darlington , Dover , Daytona , Pocono , Martinsville , Watkins Glen , etc. I want to see the drivers challanged by different types of tracks , requiring them to prove their driving skills . That's also the reason that I dislike the 'win and you're in ' chase . It doesn't require drivers to be good at every type of track.

So here is a question then: What was the hook that will keep the fans coming back at the race yesterday? The only dramatic thing I saw was Kyle Bush hunting down Clint. The rest was pretty much a yawner.

The 'hook'. lol

This is racing. If you want a hook, try the demo-derby.
I guess someone has to be able to enjoy more than just the race for the lead. There was good racing going on at Dover. I'm sorry you didn't know where to look for it.

I know what you mean. As a Biffle fan I have been forced to watch all the great racing at the back side of the field this year!

LOL. Junior used to win at the RP tracks on a pretty regular basis.

Need more examples? I used to dislike Gordon and Stewart and they both used to win the road course races all the time, and they were still my favorite tracks. Same thing with Martinsville, only you could add Johnson's name into the mix as well (I used to dislike him too). I like Pocono and for a while there, that was Hamlin's house, and I used to hate that dude until very recently. Same thing with Richmond.

We already had a thread about this as it pertains to Johnson. My overall enjoyment level of a race/track has very little to do with who wins it on that particular day or who wins at that particular track all the time. I honestly wouldn't care if Junior or one of my other favorites dominated Dover the way Jimmie Johnson has. I just don't like the track very much. Maybe that isn't the most logical way to look at it, but a person's reason for liking or disliking something isn't always logical. Sometimes that's just how it is.

C'mon, just admit defeat already. :)

It seems you are missing the point. Hardcore fans will watch anything, but NASCAR won't survive on Hardcore fans alone.

Edit:
Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race from Dover earned a 3.3 overnight rating on FOX, down 6% from last year (3.5), down 8% from 2012 (3.6), and the lowest overnight for the race since moving to FOX in 2007.

The 3.3 overnight is tied as the third-lowest ever for NASCAR Sprint Cup racing on FOX, matching Phoenix in 2009 and Kansas this year. The only races to earn lower overnights were this year’s Darlington (3.2) and Richmond (3.0) races. The 3.3 is also the lowest ever for a Sunday race on FOX

Edit:

I really don't understand the rating numbers . They seem to be related to viewers that didn't watch the race . They are not about viewers who watched the race and didn't like it . I don't get how they prove that Dover was a boring race . Those folks didn't even tune in . Maybe they were watching tennis or washing their hair. Maybe the loss of viewers has more to do with the previous race than the current race.

It's all about trends. The sport is slowing driving away fans, and boring races don't help that. Every race this year has had both a lower rating and less viewers than the previous race, and they are not going to come back if the product isn't entertaining.

Here is a trend for ya. And it is pretty insane to be on a racing site and all you do is look for stuff to whine about.

Having said that, the mainstream sporting culture still does not have an appreciation for just how popular NASCAR still is in spite of declining ratings. NASCAR averaged 5.8 million viewers per race last season. That comfortably beats the NBA and more than doubles the regular season audience of an average MLB game on national television. And don’t even think about comparing it to hockey or soccer.

Wanna know what I think the problem is? The new NASCAR and all their bull**** gimmicks.

I saw some great racing for 35th, as I said earlier Dover doesn't translate well to tv, for me its because I've seen it live all my life so I know what the race is like, but it always looks weird on tv.
