Am I the only one that thinks Dale is just sick of the grind? He has a new bride, his life is seemingly in order and has stated he wants children and also stated that he would retire if he won a championship this year (on Dan Patrick's show.)

NASCAR will hate to see this but perhaps he should hang it up sooner, rather than later. I just hope injury doesn't force the retirement. Good luck to him.

You want him to retire because he likes a rules that makes perfect sense except to nascar fans who hate everything

I don't want him to retire.

I think the rule makes sense.

I do not hate NASCAR.

I just believe that if you read and watch his interviews of late, he has gotten what he wants from the sport (and deservedly so) and just doesn't have the hunger for it anymore much like Carl Edwards. That was my point.

I can't quite comprehend how his favorable view of the 5 minute rule gets twisted into a subliminal cry for retirement but it is what it is I guess. I can say, like in the other thread on this rule, I agree with him. I do like the rule. Come to think of it, I'd like to retire. Maybe the OP is on to something here?

I have no problem with the 5 minute rule. All too often I've seen cars roll into the garage for lengthy repairs, come out and drip parts and pieces all over the track, causing more problems for others.

As for Junior retiring --- whenever he decides it's fine with me. It's his life, he gets to live it as he wishes.

Dale dipped into the pro Brian France pro Nascar everything koolaid pretty hard a few times during his broadcast of the daytona clash. Doesnt surprise me here that dale is a yes man once more.

Company Man Dale.

For the next commercial with the water cooler guy. He ‘n ole Smoke could be talkin’ lug nuts…….

I'm still not sold on the 5 minute rule yet. I will wait though and see how it plays out down the line.

And this is why I dont make threads in this section. You all just want to bite a guy's head off because of a comment? That's not very encouraging.

Ok now let me get out of here before I get shoo off.

This is a joke right? I suppose you missed the cars and trucks coming out of the pits premature last weekend & dropping all kindsa scraps & parts?

If anything the clock for the 5 minute rule should start when the car enters the pit box and stop when it moves out.
FTR, I'm not a fan of the 5 minute rule, the time limit is unrealistic IMO.

You're correct. It's painfully obvious that he's unable to think for himself and is only reading from a prepared script. I really didn't think people would be able to see through the facade but I was mistaken.
Are you referring to the concussion, or marriage?

Does 5 min clock start at pit road entrance and last until completly existing pit road, or is strictly pit stall time?

I am really disappointed with the Waltrips on this one. I really thought that they would have cheezed up the 5 minute expiration times by now.
They just need to Cowbell up the thing, how else will the people get the fever.
It desperately needs and begs for an Air Horn or a Basketball buzzer moment of finality, along with a take that crashed junk to the garage banner.

The people need know this here why it is, that Nascar is loosing it's glory and stature. Brian keeps dishing out so many Excitement nuggets, and the people aint getting and running with it.
Dale gets it and he has the fever for some more cowbell too.

From what I've heard time starts when they enter pit road and stops when they exit. They can also be called for entering and exiting too fast

That's what I am thinking and that is significantly less than 5 minutes of actual working time. Probably 4 minutes at the best.

What does the 5 minute rule being liked have to do with #88's statement? Hmmm....

Junior likes the 5 minute rule, and Harvick said that all sports' ratings are down. Stop your bitching people! Everything is fine.....and Hunt Brothers Pizza is made just for me.

there is little link between time and repairs as i have seen springs changed in under 40 secs
