Enough Is Enough Full Season Championship.

Rewarding consistency is incompatible with eliminations and playoffs.

Rewarding both consistency and winning can be done by awarding more points to the race winner, enough that no other driver earns more.

I would argue that you can’t advance through the playoffs without consistency in the regular season. You get bonus points for your points finish and your stage wins.

That’s wild lmao they took a dump on Mark Martins career. Now I want the full season points to come back just to see certain media members back track and grovel for forgiveness. The media in this sport well not all but most do this sport a disservice and actually to put it bluntly, really suck at their job

I would look at who signs their checks.

Actually it was probably Hamlin. Martin isn't on the panel. Either way it's not a good look. I think they are wrong in the court of public opinion.

I listened to it a few times since my initial post. I think you’re right, seemed like they’re calling out a current driver. Probably Hamlin like you said. They sure got their clicks tonight, mission accomplished for them.

They aren't positive clicks. The movement grows.

Yea very negative from what I’ve seen all over socials. But unfortunately internet is a very small portion. I just don’t know how you get NASCAR’s attention outside of folks not showing up to the playoff races, shutting off their tvs during the playoffs and not buying merch. I just don’t see those scenarios being realistic.

Another narrative change by Nascar, because they were not getting good feedback on them changing rules on number of entries per race in middle of season. Look here not over there thing. Happens all the time in media.

The ratings haven't been up for years for the playoffs, nor have they done well with Prime and they aren't great for TNT over last year's ratings. I think you under estimate how many threads are negative on social media about the point system/playoffs and watching the carpet bombing Trotta and Larry Mac are getting for their comments...they went mute BTW. One has to have their heads in the sand not to notice.

Huh? That was to guarantee the outliers would make the races as open teams. Judge Bell came along today and said the same thing until the 28th of next month.

Nascar basically did the work for the judge, by guaranteeing they make the show the rest of the year. Only thing I can see the judge ruling on is the sale of charters.

Larry Mac , Trotta and Ryan are pointing out what they feel is wrong with the playoffs, but not saying it directly because of big brother listening.

The argument for the playoffs has always been this nonsense about how "boring" it supposedly is if the champ locks it up with a race or two left. Who the hell cares? What does it matter? Fans watch the races for the racing. Anyone who needs the "drama" of the title being decided in the last race, especially under the forced/artificial "game 7 moments" BS, isn't a real racing fan. It's the equivalent of someone who only watches football when it's the Super Bowl.

After Ernie Irvan almost died at Michigan in '94, Dale locked it up early. Did that stop the fans from watching/attending the last few races? Nope, not one bit. And when Kenseth won the '03 title, NASCAR was as popular as ever. If they really needed to change anything after that, they could have just added 5 more bonus points for a win. That minor change would have satisfied everyone without making a mockery of the sport and diminishing the championship. But unfortunately, you look at the last 20 years, gimmick after gimmick just trying to recapture what we once had.

Well, another argument has been that non-fans will tune into playoffs and Game 7 finales like they do for stick-and-ball postseason.

20 years have shown that isn't happening.

Mark Martin

'Stead of offering Mark your opinion on the matter ya might wanna get back to working on that tan Danielle . . .

Byron would be way ahead if he didn’t have to spend 2 months every summer testing for the playoffs.
Notice the pattern every single year that he’s been locked in already.

Suddenly a couple weeks before the playoffs starts he wins a race out of nowhere, like dominating the Glen a couple years ago, and he stays at the front the rest of the year.
Same with Larson tbh.

But hey that’s Denny’s time to shine.

Anybody that reads the article with an ounce of critical thinking can see what a slap in the face it is to have this joke of a playoff system we fans have in this day and time. Joey Logano, 18th in average finishes...Champion, Ryan Blaney, 8 top 5 finishes all year...champion. Harrison Burton, 34th place in points wins a reduced field plate race...in the final 16?

We have a system where you could theoretically win every race of the season, yet lose the title in the final race because of something as simple as flat tire at a bad time.

We have people saying it's the track, the Penskes know the track. How about taking the track out of the equation and have a points system where the track has little say so?

One of my gripes when the playoff system was first implemented was that absolutely no thought was given to whether the playoff tracks were suitable tests of drivers' abilities. NASCAR just said the tracks that were the last ten in 2003 were going to be the playoff tracks going forward. Then, when rounds came along, no consideration was given to the mix of tracks in each round. NASCAR just grouped the tracks based once again on their historic order. That included visiting the same final track over and over and over ...

Every driver races all the others every week. The system doesn't need emphasizing some races over the others.
