ESPN's doing good so far. Loved the pieces they did with Stewart and Gordon on Countdown. :)

This isn't a complaint about ESPN really, all the channels do it and it's annoying but I can't stand 2 hour pre-race shows. Just start the ****ing race already.

TV guide clearly says it's prerace coverage until 2. ESPN and TNT both tell you it's prerace. Only network that doesn't is FOX.

it was okay up to now, but this segment is pretty corny.

Whoever ESPN's director is seems to think it's interesting to hear twenty crew cheifs talking at once instead of hearing the engines fire.

The announcers suck, all three of them. They can take a great race and make it sound boring.

Ive actually always liked this part of ESPNs coverage and it doesnt drown out the engines at all.

Highlighting single cars is not my idea of televising a race. Punch sounded tired before they threw the green flag. I know there is a lot of single file but the 83 and the 14 were all over each other for at least 10 laps and they gave us 3 seconds of the battle and now it's over. I've already started drinking to dull the pain:(

Good, I'm not the only one that thinks that's one of the most rediculous things ever....

Totally agree way too much pre-race crap!

But at least now they seperate the pre-race from the actual race on the program schedule. At least this way I can record or tune in just for the start of the race.

I can't even remember the last time I watched the pre-race.

I did watch the ESPN pre-race --- glad I did.

There was an outstanding piece with Tony and AJ. They were out on the track just talking --- it was fantastic.

I enjoyed the pre-race more than the race today.:D
Enjoyed the Gordon story Ella is just gorgeous.
I just got in on the end of the Tony AJ story.

I usually don't even pay attention to who is calling the race, I just watch and enjoy it. However, I have to say that I liked ESPN coverage BETTER than TNT..yeah..i said it! lol I am sorry guys but I just can't see what the hype is about on TNT. I thought ESPN's pre race show was very good. I enjoyed the segments with Tony Jeff and Kyle. It showed the drivers outside of..we...driving.

All in all I thought ESPn did a good job.

ESPN's coverage of the Nationwide Series has been very partial toward Rusty Wallace Racing. That type of TV time giving to RWI should have invoices attached to them. Nothing against Rusty Wallace, but the extended coverages/race tracking/promo pieces on his two cars are out of hand.

Hey Rusty needs all the help he can get paying for the repairs on Steven's car after a race.

I dont really mind at least they spend time showing him racing and crashing. If he wasnt in the series all they would show is Edwards and Busch lapping everyonelse.

Yep, I too think this is dumb. But it's all in the directors hands and they want to be "artists" in their work. Today's attention is towards the radio chat with the teams and so this is something that TV is trying to share. But the intro is just like the old days of the Indy cars when they fired those cars up, the cameras would go from one car to another, focusing on the starting motor in the rear. Also, just like Fox's turn up the sound thing. I guess they are trying to make the races more interesting, but for most of us, it's just fluff that we don't need.

Who's kidding who? That's why Brendan "The Thrill-Seeker" Gaughan is there. The grandson of Vegas gaming pioneer Jackie Gaughan and son of Michael Gaughan, a hotel and casino magnate. It's stated on his website or his mySpace, or FaceBook, he doesn't race for the money because he doesn't need any, he races for the thrill of it.

Good point, one I've most possibly missed. The producers at ESPN are smart enough to didicate a camera knowing good crash footage is only as far as the next corner away from either of RWI's wheelmen. Then the bonus, listening to Rusty reason away the cause. Could be reality TV at its finest, but I digress.

Usually the pre-race stuff bugs the hell out of me but this past Sunday the pre-race was more entertaining than the race, itself.
