Being a kicker in the NFL probably does not contribute to racing skills, but it doesn't mean you can't have both.

Maybe 71Fan has seen Mike run, he hangs at this track some I think.

Thatsracin.com reported Mike Cofer, a former kicker for the San Francisco 49ers, will try to make his first Truck Series race on Aug. 2 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Cofer has been driving late model stock cars at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where he has two feature victories.

He ain't bad. Drives Kurt and Kyle's old number 04. Not quite with the same abandon but.............The Quality Motor Sports team is one of the oldest in town. Go here Mike Cofer Going To Indy for more on him and the teams effort. Interesting that Cofer and QMS are bringing in the Long brothers (any relation to Carl?)

I imagine old man Spilsbury (drives the 16 and sits 9th in points) is just going whacko about going to Indy....even if it won't be him behind the wheel. He has put a variety of unknown locals behind the wheel of a real racecar over the years.

The southwest is covered with flat tracks. If they can get the truck up to speed and handling well, Mike ought to be able to negotiate the turns quite well.
