I was in the hospital, in ICU, on life support and had received the last rites.. Things weren't looking too good for me. The Grim Reaper was knocking at my door according to the Doc but I kicked his ass. Doc later said he had concerns that I would survive..
It's been a long year but I am now 1 of just 192 veterans at the Rhode Island Vets home, one of just 3 state of the art facilities in this country. And believe me this place is state of the art.
Numerous times a day I am thanked for my service,,it's humbling. It was not like this when I returned April 8, 1969.
