P1 Norris
P2 Verstappen
P5 Piastri

Piastri had a strange run-in with a Racing Bull on his final lap but Norris was well clear of everyone anyways. Lando is destroying his teammate in every way right now.

I would've put my money on Piastri earlier this year but Norris has really got his act together. Didn't expect that to happen but am happy for him.

When Piastri hasn’t been crashing into things during this stretch run he’s just been downright useless. Couldn’t get past Antonelli with twenty-lap fresher tires to try to chase down the ailing Russell for the final podium spot. Honestly one of the biggest championship collapses anywhere ever.

Easily the least dramatic of the three and also felt like it had the least amount of hype and buildup despite having a closer title battle than the previous two.

Yeah, I've read where this race has pissed Las Vegas locals off more than the last two, because there's no hype, the casinos are dead zones, and the inconvenience dramatically outweighed the benefits.

Seems like these spectacles have a shelf life of three years.

To be fair, regarding hype, Las Vegas has been hit hard this year with the economy the way it is and foreign tourists no longer coming to the United States.

Sovereign showing by Max but unless something happens to Lando at the last two races he won't have a chance at the Championship.

Great race by Antonelli btw. Not only did he hold off Piastri and Leclerc on 48-lap old tires, he managed to get a 5-second gap on Leclerc to keep fifth.

Oscar is turning out to be everything we thought Lando is.

That said, there might be some IMPLICATIONS. Both McLarens are under investigation for too much plank wear! If they get DSQ'd Max is in striking distance in the WDC.

Now that I am over the shock, the rules be the rules and it's the same for everyone. I don't like it, but you gotta be fair.

One thing this does is make the upcoming sprint crucial. Every point is going to count.
I think there are several here including you that are more knowledgeable about the technical side and specs with F1 than I am.

But I do wonder if McLaren has pushed the tolerances a little more in the last two or three races. That's when they seemed to have returned to having the most speed. On the other hand, the same question would apply to how Verstappen seemed to be the faster one for a few races prior to that, before McLaren regained the advantage.

I really don't know the technical regulations that well, but I do know the skid blocks must be a specific thickness all the time. Sucks for McLaren, but you have to draw the line at what the book says.

Other forums are full of people talking conspiracy. but I don't see it. You can't fake a measurement. McLaren just got it horribly wrong. I hate it, but I also want the cars to race legally.

Teams always try to be as close to the limit as possible, if there's one bump on the road that they didn'tcalculate or tires wear even slightly more than they thought this can happen super easily.

The plank has to be at least 9 millimeters thick at the end of the race.

The plank on Piastri's car was too thin by 0.26 millimeters and the one on Lando's car by 0.12 millimeters.

Zero point twelve millimeters could decide this championship.

Decision is out, both McLarens have been disqualified from the Vegas Grand Prix.

Lando is now at 390 points in the WDC, Max and Oscar are both at 366 with 58 points still up for grabs.
That’s wild. Somehow that’s actually an ideal result for Piastri.

I did notice at some point early in the race that Piastri’s car was throwing up a ton of sparks down the long backstretch when he had a DRS run on someone. Did not think it would lead to this though.

Can the teams make big updates to their wings, aero, etc. (within general specs) anytime during the season, or is that limited to stop it from happening between every event?

Converted to inches .26mm - .0102in, .12mm - .0047in. Frog hairs.

Yes, the constraints now are the cost cap and allotted wind tunnel time and CFD runs. Teams declare their updates prior to each race weekend:

I agree to an extent, but there has to an absolute cut off point at some point to prevent it from becoming subjective. If the rule is clearly defined it has to be enforced to maintain credibility.

Right before Zandvoort I said it was possible, but unlikely Max could win this thing. That was then, but right now it's looking like 50/50. This comeback has been unbelievable.
