Fail inspection,,lose tires

I think the teams are pushing the envelope to see what they can get away with. And NASCAR is trying to get the teams to play by the rules.

I don't know that much about the technical issues involved in passing inspection but maybe . . .

IF THEY JUST DROPPED SOME OF THE DAMN RULES AND MADE IT EASIER TO PASS INSPECTION

they wouldn't have so many cars failing at it.

Don't you think that would inevitably lead to more engineering dominance and higher costs? I do.

With less money flowing into Nascar it may not be that big a deal and the worst case is that it would just increase the gap between the haves and have nots which is of no concern.

You mean more so than it is now ?

I dunno.
If Nascar threw out most of the rules and got rid of lasers and templates... frequently suggested on here... I believe the operating costs for the top teams would rise to F1 territory. Teams that couldn't spend that much, and couldn't be competitive while spending less, would disappear. "Run what ya brung" might work at the bottom of the ladder... a local track paying a few hundred bucks to the street stock winner... but will never work at the top levels. JMO.

We're all aware of the salary caps that exist in some of the ball and stick sports, and I'm sure implementing some version of that in NASCAR has been kicked around on this forum, so I apologize in advance if I'm beating a dead horse.

But would implementing a cap on team expenditures really be that hard for NASCAR to enforce ?

I think it would be worth a try seeing how sponsorship dollars seem to be drying up.

Some teams don't seem to have a problem getting through inspection the first time. There is no reason the other teams can't do it. If a car fails inspection, give them one chance to fix it. If they fail a second time, they don't race. The whole idea of inspections is to stop the cheating, right? It's not there to see how many different ways, you can try to get something illegal, past the inspectors. If the teams want to play cat and mouse, that's fine, but they should only get one shot at it per week.
