4 players have been eliminated from Chase contention in the Sprint Cup Series and this week we are going to eliminate 4 in the Xfinity Series. However, rain from Hurricane Matthew is expected to be a factor throughout the weekend. As of Thursday morning, the chance of rain on Friday and Saturday is 90%, with rain clearing out Saturday night.
The Xfinity Series Chase is extremely tight. Only Mik Maqracer83 (#29) is safe after winning at Kentucky. Jakub Smetana (#42) has a comfortable 17 point lead, thanks to his 15 bonus points for regular season wins. Slicedbread96 (#96), David (#97), and Nascar Lead Lap Points (#01) have some room to work with as they sit 8, 7, and 6 points ahead of the cut line, respectively. The 4 players sitting out of the Chase are all within just 2 points of the cut-line. Braindead Zombie (#88) and Kevin20fan (#20) are 1 point behind 8th place MJM (#84), while BiffFan (#34) and Numbah10hatah (#38) are 2 points behind. The battle doesn't end there. Oldschoolracing519 (#18) is just 2 points ahead and @24over48 (#24) is just 3 points ahead. Anything can happen at Charlotte, whenever they are able to get the race in.
But our focus also lies with the Sprint Cup Series as we begin the Round of 12.
Slicedbread96 (#96) didn't go down without a fight, missing the Round of 12 by just 1 points. @Conner (#98) had a strong showing at Dover, trying to come back from the Dover absence. But unfortunately, he still fell 3 points short. MJM (#84) and #1 seed Petr Smetana (#43) were also eliminated by just 5 and 6 points. Meanwhile 7 of the 12 that did advance were only 6 points above or less. And now, the slates are clean. Everyone in the Chase is all tied up and we have a whole new ballgame. Jakub Smetana (#42) got his first Sprint Cup Series win over the weekend, but he's going to need another one to lock himself into the Round of 8. @DanicaFreak (#7) leads all players with 3 wins this season, can he get a 4th? Will we have another spoiler this weekend or will a Chaser clinch a spot into the Round of 8? We will find out when Hurricane Matthew will let us.
REMINDER to all those who will be playing with us again in 2017, I ask that you PLEASE re-register before Homestead! Reason being, I want to make sure all returning players are able to claim their number first! That is why I am waiting to sort through any number conflicts. Once Homestead comes, numbers are fair game, and new players will be (hopefully) joining in!! So if you want to play again in 2017, and you wait until after Homestead to register and the number you want is gone, then tough luck! Returning players get priority choice, but only if they re-register before Homestead! If another returning player wants the same number as you, do not worry, just ask for that number as well, but tell me what your backup is! I will sort them out at Homestead when the priority deadline hits. So far, here's the list I have (I have your colors, I just won't be listing them here).
