The 2nd half of the season begins at New Hampshire. Time is running out to either seal a win or make it into the Top-30 in points. Joey2448 (#6) is the latest competitor to punch his ticket into the Chase. Nascarnana (#60) among others is just one good night away from throwing her hat into the mix as she is lurking below the Top-30 mark waiting to pounce. The points are so close, that near the Chase line, 10 players are split by less than 25 points. With recent absences coming into play, the names have shaken up but the competitive nature is only getting more intense. We've still got 8 races to go before we know who our 16 Chasers are. Who will be in? Who will be out?
The Xfinity Series is just as tight. SpeedWorld97 (#4) just lost his Chase eligibility despite winning twice. This opens the door for others to race their way into the Chase while Jakub Smetana (#42) continues to dominate the series coming off of his 4th win in 16 races. With 5 Xfinity players with multiple victories, will the trend continue or will we see new faces in victory lane? 10 races are left to decide what 12 players will go for the 2016 Xfinity Series Championship.
The Truck Series has the opposite scenario playing out. After 10 races, we have 10 different winners. And to make the Chase field even more complicated, the one player with more points than anyone else has yet to even win a race. And now, there's a new battle that needs to be fought. Players who are taking the green flag in the Truck Series for the very first time, ineligible for the Chase, are also finding ways to make it to Victory Lane. Hinch5 (#5) has a win percentage of 100% in the Truck Series after winning at Kentucky, but that gives those running for the Chase one less chance at winning a race. With there already being 10 different winners for just 8 Chase spots, it is clear to all those sitting outside the Chase that you need to win a race if you want to have a shot at the title. Oldschoolracing519 (#18) is in by points by having a 26 point lead over any other Truck player. Topping him is the only way to make it in by points, and there's only 6 more chances to win to be among the 8 Chasers.
The first half of the season had it's fair share of excitements. But now, we turn our focus towards the Chase. The pressure will rise in the coming weeks for our players. Those who are in cannot rest too comfortably should others start winning and gaining points. Those who are out will be making bigger and bolder moves. We will see shining stars with emotional victories. And we will see heartbreak and championship hopes start to fall apart before our eyes.
Every player must now put themselves in position where when we get to Richmond and Chicago, their names can be called at the checkered flag. Where they can say that they too will be in the running to be named a 2016 Predictor Cup Champion.
Check out the 2nd Quarter Report if you haven't already to see all the statistics for this year so far.
Retro Racer (#49) will be declared inactive if he is absent for the Cup race.
Question of the Week: Brad Keselowski had to be pushed in order to do his signature celebration with the American flag at Kentucky. Almost every driver has their own signature victory move, whether it's Kyle Busch's bow, Joey Logano's steering wheel, or Smoke climbing the fence. So how would you celebrate a victory?
The Quaker State 400 was one to remember for the Fantasy Season. @DanicaFreak (#7) started on the Pole. After winning 2 of the first 5 races, he had been in a bit of a slump finishing in the Top-20 only twice since his Fontana win. Then it was @24over48 (#24) who took the lead. He was looking for a great result as he had dropped out of the Chase for the first time all season after the Coke Zero 400. But then David (#97) took control of the race, looking to win consecutively and be the first to 3 wins in the Cup Series. His main competition? Rookie 02Justin10 (#02). He had 2 Top-10 finishes in his first 7 races, but had finished outside the Top-25 in 5 of his last 9 races. As the laps started to wind down, Maverick11 (#28) was up top, looking to translate his 3 2016 MIPA's into a win. With just 30 laps to go, however, @Conner (#98) was in position for his 2nd win and his 3rd top-5 in the last 5 races. But in the end, it was the only 2015 Chase competitor who didn't have a win to his name. Joey2448 (#6) had been unstoppable in Fantasy NASCAR for years, but just hasn't been able to take advantage of the new Chase format until this past weekend at Kentucky.
