We are now less than a month away from our next Quarterly Update. I will refrain from posting awards on the weekly blog posts here until the 3rd Quarter Report.
Nascarman (#81) won the Bristol Night Race and now punched his ticket to the Chase. Meanwhile, Jolly Mean Giant (#67) is the only one of the 16 not locked in with a win or through Dash4Champs, but he has a 20 point margin with 3 races remaining.
If you don't think your participation matters anymore because your chances for the championship are slimming down, you are wrong! By falling off, you are making it harder and harder for someone to fall outside of the Top-30 in points which actually further solidifies those already in the Chase. If you happen to win a race, you shake things up by either putting yourself in the Chase mix, or you just stole an opportunity for others to better their position in the Chase. So whether you're first or last in points, YOUR PARTICIPATION MATTERS.
We had 32 players for Saturday night's race. I understand I messed up and didn't publicly post my prediction. I had no way of proving to you that I made them except for my own word, which isn't fair enough to the rest of you, so I decided to take the absence. But even if I did post my picks, it still would have been the lowest participation we've had all year.
Let's work on getting that back! It makes the Top-30 rule pretty much unnecessary if we only have 30 people playing each week. We're still a young and growing league. Let's hope for 2017 that we have a minimum of 40 full-time Cup players and 25 full-time Xfinity/Truck players. That is my goal for 2017 and I need YOU to help me get there. I can do all I can with the blogs and Facebook and Twitter, but I really need all of YOU to step up and stay committed to the game and getting others involved. Going to the race track? Talk to people. Talk about this league. Believe it or not, that's how I got 24EVER to start playing with us.
I already know we're going to lose 2 players in 2017, so let's start recruiting now so we can have an even more successful 2017 season!
So please, keep on playing with us through to the end of the season at Homestead. We need you now more than ever to keep on playing and have fun with us! In a few weeks, I'll open up the opportunity to re-register for 2017, newcomers can begin registering after Homestead. This will give you all a chance to change your name, number, and colors, if you wish.
And also, don't forget that we have end of season awards! That means activities and discussions all throughout the offseason. I'll be here operating this league year-round. I have no offseason!!
