I'll add one more favorite race, purely for sentimental reasons. The 1976 WERA National at Summit Point Raceway (West Virginia) was the only time my father ever saw me race. For the 4-hour endurance race, my riding partner and bike owner was Gary Marshall. It was our second race together, and our second victory. I crashed in my sprint race, trying to avoid a rider who fell in front of me... wet track.
Dad never really understood my need to race, but he did offer plenty of moral support. He probably would have come more often if I'd asked him to... when I had the chance. Dad passed away in 1987.
