Ferguson - Burning down your own.

@Kyle18fan this is the response to your previous post to quoting mine.

So, with kids and so many others in the area the man waving around his gun. This is dangerous, the man had a gun filled with people in a park. He was not arrested due to the caller saying "The man wanted to commit suicide."

The video explains itself and that is an example of immobilization. Not to kill, but to ensure that the criminal is shot to get away from his weapon. The man was in the hospital and able to live.

There are always exceptions I guess but I have never heard of police being trained to wound a suspect, this guy was lucky that the cops had a bit of time to think before shooting

No doubt because in an area with children and other innocent bystanders, it could have gotten ugly. I really applaud San Diego for being patient, even in such of a situation as that.

There wasnt much delay in the recent shooting in st. louis ............... cops rolled up and were shooting before the car stopped, kid had a toy gun

That was Cleveland.

Also, it's sad to see as well. Honestly, I was upset because the dispatcher said that there was the possibility of a gun ("It's probably fake.") and the boy had a BB gun out. It's a scary situation, but as the cops pulled up, Rice reached down to his waist and they shot him instantly.

A lot of people tell me these things are racially induced, but I don't want to go there... It's better to see things from a neutral perspective because I've seen the video before, but it was only to the point of when Rice was shot and killed at the park.

I've owned BB guns and I still have a rifle one in my closet I got while I was in the 9th grade...

Doesn't pertain. The dude in the above video was not attempting to wrestle a weapon out of an officer's hand. The police in the video were well covered, behind vehicles. This was not a sudden, one-on-one incident. Not a relevant example, in this case.

Then there is this...

View discretion is advised (no gore, but language and scene may be disturbing to some viewers)

It was an example of immoboilzing, I just responded to Kyle18fan. I'm not talking about the actual situation, but what the cops did. Different situation, nothing similar, but that was an clear example.

Edit: Too darn annoying to be real, I'm out.

These threads and videos are very educational.
I've learned that it is very important to do what the guy with the gun tells you to do.
I think the art of parenting is dying. Kids growing up have lost the knowledge of personal responsibility.

Here's a hint: if you walk towards a cop with a knife after the cop told you to stop with his gun raised, its your fault you got shot.

Brown's family obviously didnt teach him not to be a bully, rob convenience stores, and to not assault cops & to disobey orders when the cop has his weapon pointed at him. The only person responsible for Brown's death is Brown. If he would have listened, he would still be alive to tell his story and 12 business owners & 12 car owners would still have their property.

How does one "shoot to immobilize" in a split second encounter ? Police are trained to shoot center mass .......... when the gun leaves the leather its killing time. Many officers that are killed are shot with their own weapons, Brown had already tried to get Wilsons gun, only a fool would allow that big thug to get another chance at his weapon.

They aren't great marksmen from some of the shoot outs I've seen. I believe that's why they are trained to empty the clip. Wilson said his gun held 13 rounds. So, how many wounds was it? 6?

Yep, lots of rounds went somewhere besides the intended target, no doubt some bullet holes will be found in the next year or two. If you say "clip" on a gun forum they will crucify you ................... its "magazine" :D

Please don't banish your BB gun in a public place.

We were having a good conversation, no need to run off

Oh pardon.. I'm not a gun person..

I can shoot better than some people, but that's all I know about guns. That and not to take them where it is illegal.

Dont pay any attention to me.................. just givin you a hard time ;)

Speaking of riots, I was in LA during the Rodney King riots. I worked down town on Olive Street. It was scary stuff. I get sick everytime the media played the tape. It still make me go crazy pacing and yelling STOP! That day when the riots broke out and my company decided it was safe enough to send us home, I drove one of my co-workers home whom was a black friend. We had to go through some areas that had been looted and burned. We were equally scared to death. Rioters don't care where you are on the issue. It's senseless. That chiot is senseless.

That's what I was raised with. Say yes sir, no sir and do what they say when they say it. You can settle the problem once you get to the station and a lawyer is there.

interstin interview w/ brown's parents/ atty. on pbs' charlie rose last week.

Not at all, we all have our opinions. Also, I'm a lot younger than most and it's just we all have different patterns of thinking. I'm just more of the half-glass full than half-glass empty type of person.

b/c of ferguson unrest.......obama held meeting today on police / community relations.......etc
absent ---ferguson police chief
present----al sharpton.

??

And you're surprised?

Once again, blaming a problem on someone else.

My buddy is a retired sheriff. We were sitting around talking about this stuff and he starting talking about cops using their weapons. He basically said if you come at me, weapon or not your dead. I'm not here to decide if you have a weapon or not, I want to go home and be with my family and friends. This guy has worn a vest to work for the last 25 years. I agree with him when he says his biggest responsibility is to himself.
