Final Race Location

They announce the schedule in October. I think the plans are orchestrated long before that. I don't know that it would leave them enough time to coordinate everything. I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night so I can't really give anything more than my opinion.

I'm happy you know your limitations. ;)

Simple logic. As you say, they currently set the schedule 4 months before the first race, and things don't implode. nascar can decide which 5 would work in advance. Could even have the champ announce the track during media right after the last race.

We can also assume nascar would only allow current chase tracks as the choices. It's a long season. That's plenty of lead time. It could add some legitimacy to the championship if drivers are making the choice.

Shorten the season were it ends late October, then you can finish wherever you want each year.

I think taking the huge most likely daunting, logistical nightmare of going straight from Daytona to Phoenix, or from Vegas to Bristol and back to Auto Club out of the equation would make for some more wiggle room in the schedule. I never got why they have some of these races a week apart when they're across the country.

Those dates are already worked out long before the time the banquet rolls around.

The way you do it is that the 5 tracks listed all already only have 1 date. So if they get the final race nod then that would be an extra 2nd date added. That way you don't have to move other dates around to accommodate the Season Finale.

To be different, how about Daytona? You'll always get great racing.

Las Vegas. Great weather, great facility and a city that's more than up to the task.

Loudon. Bundle up,you Nancy's. Cool weather, good grip, and warm cider. Run 60 laps. Top 15 cars advance to a 50 lap shootout. Top 5 cars advance to a 35 lap winner take all. Hot cocoa for everyone.
