FIRST TIME @ A NASCAR RACE

It won't be bad, just some good natured ribbing. Great thing about NASCAR , you have multiple drivers to choose, instead of just two teams going head to head. The big plus, is most are Jr fans and usually leave around the halfway point, so you might get good seats for the second half of the race. If your a Brad fan, check the Miller lite souvenir stand, to see if he's doing an autograph session

Here's a website with driver appearances in the area

You'll be all good at the track as good natured ribbing always takes place among fans who have a favorite driver but, from my experience, it's all in good fun.
I think it's because at team sport events, it's always 'Home against Visitors' with a home field advantage. With NASCAR there's little home field advantage, since all drivers have fans cheering in the stands (and the drivers can't hear the fans most of the time anyway). It's not 'Home against Visitors' as much as 'My guy against ALL of those other guys so I'm going to pull against ALL of them, except the other guys on the same team, and maybe the other cars from the same manufacturer, and that one guy is pretty cool regardless of what he drives or who he drives for, and I really like that guy's sponsor; oh, and that one 'guy' isn't even a guy; and now my guy is out so I might as well pull for the driver of the stranger seated next to me...'

Are ya there yet ? Is it great ? I sure hope you get some sun ! It just makes the spectacle so much greater .

Don't forget the 2nd best part of going to a race: the people watching. I can imagine that Kentucky will not disappoint in that regard.
When the race starts, be sure to watch for that drunk guy who will come up the steps, look around, come up three or four more steps, look around and try to find his row, while his buddies are screaming and waving at him from two sections over.

Also look for the over dressed chick who apparently thought she was going to a fashion show or an exclusive night club. Take bets on how many times her heels get stuck between the aluminum bleacher slats.

Or the chick who thinks she's at the strip club working the pole dancing gig.
Of course, you men would think that's cool. LOL

Darlington, several years ago. Tall gent wearing jeans and a race T-shirt. Very well-built young lady in a white spandex halter top, at least 3-inch heels, and spandex checkered flag Daisy Dukes. In between them, holding their hands, was what I assume was their daughter, age four or five, dressed just like Momma...

I don't think anyone brought up what to do if the race is postponed. I didn't even think about that when I posted on this thread even though I have been to a race that was postponed because of rain (a few years ago at TMS).

For mrs. sully's sake, I hope they get this one in tonight. First race I ever went to was the Fall '92 Martinsville race, it got rained out and pushed back to Monday, and I couldn't go back the next day. I was pretty devastated, hopefully her first race won't be a washout.
