Five days without smoking!

That is awesome you quit smoking! I quit 6 years ago and I am so happy I did! :)

P.S. Do you remember me Clark? I remember you from some other board years ago. I know you had a daughter, can't remember her name but how is she doing?

I remember all girls, of course! How have you been?

And yes, I have four daughters actually, my oldest and meanest is the one you are referring to though, she's the only one that's been on any board, being a good bit older than my younger daughters., lol.

Erica, aka Twitch, and she's doing ok, although we aren't very close these days.

And thanks guys, I'm holding up ok...it's been over a month and really and truly it hasn't been as hard as I imagined it would. Or maybe age has just left me better prepared to deal with habit-breaking.

I am, dp, thanks. Its been two months in a couple more days or so.

It's been the little mental associations of certain times of day or activities with smoking that have( finally) worn off a little at least. Which has helped a lot. The biggest thing I've focused on has been trying to remain as chilled out and stress free as possible----I figure if things get stressed or tensed, I will use that as a little self-justification to grab one of the damned things, lol

The lack of tobacco/nicotine itself was actually the easiest part oddly enough. I just eat a lot of oranges and truck on.

Thanks for asking guys...it has helped encourage me.

I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day for 36 years but at 5:45 am 10/27/1997 on the way to have a couple of small non smoking related pollops removed from my larynx I threw them away and never touched another one. The reason I bring this up is that its tough but a lot of us have done it and you can too. Stick with it. Very good luck.

Awesome news, Clark!!!!!! We are so proud of you. *hug*

Hell, for enough hugs I will give up drinking next.....

(Eh, on second thought, it would take more than just a hug. heh. (*wink*)

Nah, I'm kidding, babe and thank you. And I'm still hanging tough. Although this heat is weirdly making me want to smoke more than I have at any time since I quit. Must be some sort of heretofore unrecognized mental association I'm making between heat=smoking. Idk.

And yep, I did just use "heretofore unrecognized mental association" in a sentence. I knew that would happen sooner or later.

Lack of nicotine is making me crazy, maybe.<_<

Keep up the good work, my father had quintuple(5) open heart bypass surgery over 10 years ago and he still smokes to this day so I know how hard it is for someone to quit but you're doing your family and yourself a huge favor in helping prevent going through something like that.

Stay strong!
