Flossie Johnson, former wife of legend Junior Johnson, has passed.

Wilkes County’s Flossie Clark Johnson, 90, frequently referred to as the “First Lady of NASCAR,” died Thursday morning. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

If you were from the era when Junior raced and later owned teams hiring others to drive for him, Flossie was mentioned nearly as much as Junior. She was a presence and extremely well respected. There will be a special place for her in heaven.
