For the Ford fan

Got it. Still doesn't alleviate my fear Logano and Ken could be driving something different in the future. Hope not for sure.

I'm right there with you buddy but at least in the podcast they said that they're wrapped up for a long-term deal whatever that means

I sure hope so. And I hope Ford keeps him happy with support. Be nice to follow teams/drivers and stay in line with your factory support. His alignment with Woods kinda makes me feel better about things. I'd never think Ford would let the 21 run on any other make like the 3 should always be Chevy like the 24/48. 43 kinda feels whored out....:(.

yeah I didn't pay much attention to what Harvick was saying at the start of the season, about having to build all these new frames, not having data on how the car drives on and on. Childers was saying the same thing. I thought they were kinda blowing smoke for their competitors. Maybe they will come on stronger the second time they show up at these tracks. Childers was saying the Ford motor set in the frame different than the Chevy and that was a problem because none of their frames worked
Petty and Penske had the same problem.

I thought all the chasis they were running through last year were Hendrick owned and leased? Why would they be trying to fit Ford motors in them?

Purchased, not leased from HMS. They changed some 2016 cars over in order to get going ... they could never build enough new cars fast enough to start the season and run through it with their own chassis.

The FR9 engine has a slightly lower center of mass than the other two. That throws data they had from last year off because the center of gravity of the entire car is changed.

They were building their own chassis for the last half of last year. But they were built for the Chevy motors. So even those had to have the front clip chopped off and rebuilt for the Ford Motor.

"It's been a huge change," said Rodney Childers, crew chief Harvick's No. 4 Ford. "Normally in the offseason you can take some cars, put new doors on them, put new quarter panels on them or a new nose and move on. You put the same truck arms, the same housing, the same lower control arms back under it.
"Now it's down to bare frames; cut the clips off, making them where the Ford engine will fit. And you have to wait on NASCAR to give you certification dates to go get your (chassis) certified. Most organizations only get one or two a week; when you've got 75 race cars sitting there waiting to get certified, that's taken a long time."

Poor Rodney.........I remember the days when you switched manufacturers you had to get an entirely new car as it was more than changing decals and sawing off a couple of things as it is now.

Wonder what Grubb’s doin’ with the chassis stuff that was supposed to be goin’ to Haas…...

Maybe this is covered in another thread, if so, i cant find it. Why would Roush shut down his 6 team in xfinity if Wallace Jr. is only filling in till Almirola has healed? That team is running excellent and Bubba has a great shot at winning a race or two. Is this part of silly season? Has Wallace already signed to drive somewhere else next year?

$$$$$$$ no sponsorship the rest of the year.

Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for the info. Next off season will be like a vacation for the fab shop compared to this past. That whole team is probably so sick of working on cars.....
