Jack was injured in a car accident a couple weeks ago and is still in the hospital. Heres an update from a freind

HI, everyone. Jack continues on the road to recovery. This has been a real turning point week for him. He has been smiling, trying to talk/communicate, spending time with family and close friends. He's doing plenty of physical and occupational therapy, even standing, with assistance, for short periods of time. His time OFF of the ventilator is increasing as his lungs become more strong, and his ribs continue the process of healing. His sedation has been lifted a little so he's awake more and more, but still needs his rest, of course.
It is clear to the family and friends who have been spending time with Jack that he is still his same ol' self. We love to see his smile!
Thank you all, again, for the support. Clearly, your thoughts, prayers and positivity have worked miracles. We appreciate it very much

Thanks for that update, Spotter. The lack of news about him has been worrying me. This sounds cautiously encouraging, so very good to see.

Jack's update for Tuesday, Dec. 19
Journal entry by Ingrid Jones — 2 hours ago

Dear Friends and Family-Jack is slowly getting back to his old self. He can now talk with when his trach-tube is capped. And when he talks, he has plenty to say. Tonight his focus was Jerry Richardson selling the Panthers. Jack has lots of opinions on the situation, as I'm sure each of you who know him can imagine.

Jack is still doing therapies, and still has plenty of healing to do with his ribs, but he enjoys seeing friends and family when they visit, and catching up. It's so great to hear him talk, again, and see him smile and ask about what's going on at home.
We know that Jack still has a ways to go, and we are overjoyed and thankful with each and every milestone.
Many of you have asked about Aline. She has been by his side as much as humanly possible. She's been amazingly strong and hopeful and realistic. She has impressed us beyond belief with her strength and spirit, and undying commitment and love for Jack and her family.
Thank you all, again, for your kind words, thoughts, prayers and positivity, as well as offers to help. It means the world.

Jack’s update on Tuesday, Dec. 26
Journal entry by Ingrid Jones — 19 minutes ago

Hi, all. Just a quick update on Jack. Today he enjoyed his first meal since the day of the accident. Of course, it wasn’t a steak dinner, but an egg salad sandwich.
Christmas was a difficult day, and he wasn’t in the best of spirits, but today was definitely another turn down the road to recovery. And he also did a bang up job during physical therapy. It’s clear to the family that he is aiming to get out of the facility as soon as humanly possible. Of course, he still has a ways to go, but we are highly encouraged at his new milestone of eating real food! It was the best Christmas present we could have asked for, albeit a day late.
Thank you all for your continued prayers, thoughts and well-wishes. They really mean a lot to us, and to Jack.
We hope you all have a happy, peaceful and safe New Year.

Jack’s update for Jan. 5, 2018
Journal entry by Ingrid Jones — 16 hours ago

Hi, everyone. Sorry it’s been a few days since posting updates. Jack is progressing along quite well. He has had his trach tube removed as of last week, and with a few expected stops and starts with solid food, he’s doing well. Where he’s really shining is in physically therapy. He exceeds expectations and usually wears himself out every day. He’s still enjoying close family and friend visits, and we will be working closely with his care planning team in the coming weeks to figure out the next step in his road to recovery. For having broken nearly all his ribs, and given his age, he continues to elate us with his spirit and determination to stay on the planet a bit longer, and for that, we feel blessed.
Thank you all for your support and kindness. We hope the New Year brings all good things for you.

Jack’s update, Saturday, Jan. 13

Hi, everyone. This past week has been amazing for Jack and his recovery progress. He’s walking with a cane (although he insists he walks much more quickly without it), standing unassisted and doing many self-care tasks. He also has his cell phone with him, and enjoys calling family and friends...so if he has your number, consider yourself warned!
He has come so far since December 3, the day of his accident. While we are constantly amazed, it’s not as though we expected anything less from him. We don’t have a release date for him yet, and he still has a couple weeks of rehabilitation care, but we agree he is back about 85-90% to his old self.
We continue to feel blessed and humbled and incredibly appreciative for all the prayers, well-wishes and positivity from everyone. Thank you all very much, still and always.
