This weekends Formula BMW qualifying session was an utter disaster for championship leading team Sauber Red Bull Racing. With Brook Johnston leading the points and teammate Matt Jaskel in third, the two Sauber Red Bull Racing drivers qualified seventh and fourteenth for this wednesdays race. Although driving for the first time in the new F2008 BMW chassis', Johnston had a flat tire running the car into the wall with minimal damage on lap five of heat one and had suspension and aerodynamic problems in heat two of the qualifying session. Sauber Red Bull Racing could only explain this as lack of time for car set up and minimal ability to tune the new chassis' and engines. Jaskel had problems of his own when he ran his car into the wall on the second lap of the qualifying heat putting him back to fourteenth. Team owner Mark Spire must be truly worried about his new cars and his fading championship hopes. Lets hope the Sauber Red Bull drivers can pick up the pace for this Wednesdays race.
