from a not so closet Bowyer fan

Has your driver ever being the victim of a conspiracy?

Driver rivalrys happen and I enjoy them. But Clint took his side way personal.

I'm sure that what happened in Martinsville, Phoenix played a key role in him deciding to go along with the Richmond debacle.

Really? ,My drive is Dale Jr, anytime something falls in his favor in a race people want to start looking for black helicopters.

I'm not going to get into a fight about it and derail this thread. We'll have to agree to disagree as I really do think people overreact with Clint.

Lie how?

Ask any other driver who has spun, crashed, or anything else to comply to team orders.
"Didnt spin on purpose"

"Had a tire go down"

"Jr got into me"

All false. Clint cant kick rocks.

Maybe so, but honestly a lot of drivers that have done these "unacceptable" things have fans in this thread that are hating on Clint. So I still see it as people being salty.
I don't hate anybody.

"Acceptable" cheating in auto racing has to do with things mechanical ... intended to make the car perform better than those of one's competitors.

What other drivers have done things similar to the MWR Richmond debacle?

The thing at Richmond killed the race team. There were no black helicopters involved.

Not that i'm a huge clint bowyer fan, but....

What about the JGR drivers following team orders at Talladega last year, or Martinsville? What about Kevin Harvick destroying half the field at Talladega which is the reason we now have an overtime line? Spinning your own car to bring out a caution is a lot more forgiveable than destroying multiple expensive racecars just to get into the next round of playoffs, not to mention how dangerous it is. IMO.

The intention was to do far more than cause a caution.

Turned out to be unforgivable. See NAPA ...

He has to pay for the farm. That's a lot of motivation. lol

What Kevin did In dega was one of the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Another hard head.

For some reason NASCAR didn't think much of it which was entirely odd but not surprising. NASCAR knows their customers.

Yep.

What Bowyer did was really low, but what Harvick did was beyond pathetic. That move at Dega solidified Harvick as the biggest douchebag in Nascar as far as I'm concerned.

My wife is a big Bowyer fan which makes me at least a non-hater by proxy. Since I haven't adopted a driver since Labonte hung it up I'm hoping she gets something to be excited about this year (on the track that is.) Having to hear her going on about how he finished up the track again is getting old anyway so yeah ok, go Clint. I think she started rooting for him after he was on Duck Dynasty but everybody has their reasons.

:katts:

He also finished 3rd in points in '07. He would have finished pretty high in 2010 too if it wasn't for that BS 150 point penalty he got at the New Hampshire chase race.

Yep. Clint can drive. It's been proven in the past. Now that he's with a good team again he will prove the haters wrong.

I don't mean cheating I just mean stuff I see as unacceptable. Some of the stuff Kyle Busch has done for example. Yeah I'm not a fan but it's because he's done things A LOT. One time, it's bad, two times it's getting out of hand, once it becomes a habit is when it makes me start to dislike you. Clint himself hasn't done much wrong. MWR has yes, but that isn't gonna make me dislike anyone and everyone who's drove for him. What happened with Clint and HMS was in my eyes Clint going for the win....as someone here likes to say Checkers or Wreckers. In my eyes all Clint has done wrong was the whole spingate mess, where it's bad I got over it and moved past it.

Bowyer ruined his own reputation in the eyes of many. Some people aren't bothered at all by what he did.

You'll have that.

It's like I told Reck, we just gotta agree to disagree. Tho I do think some Gordon fans use that as a reason not to like him and only dislike Clint because of the whole mess with them two.

The overwhelming majority of people who don't like Clint are Gordon fans, and I get it. I couldn't stand Gordon for a good couple years after that Phoenix incident, but I eventually moved on and was even kinda sorta rooting for the guy during his last full season.

A very opinionated post follows.

I think there is some selective outrage in play here. Clint screwed up and paid a price, others have manipulated the races too. The Captain himself did some orchestration himself during the same race, he was just a little slicker while no more righteous. The Captain skated and a MWR type was an easier whipping boy for folks to hammer.

RCR had Menard to stop on the track a year or two prior in the same event. Harvick had a better short run car than Gordon and benefited enough from the assist to secure the win.

It's a cut throat world with a crowd of egomaniacs and a business that demands results. There isn't any saints out there, and Clint is no dirter.

Furthermore Michael Waltrip accepted the punishment without going scorched earth , while a bunch of hypocritical or cowardly (take your pick) types said nothing . They just kept quite while the hammer came down. More powerful and secure, but the idea that they are more principled or better characters is an absurd one.....including NAPA .
IMO.
