G-W-C

I likely forgot a lot of things . The point is , manufactured drama is more important than actual racing and it's causing me to lose interest. This is supposed to be real life , not a movie with a happy ending . What would really be wrong with having a race without a photofinish?

lose interest ??? coulda fooled me ! ha!

I have mixed feelings. It produces some exciting finishes and I don't like ending the race under caution but sometimes it steals the win from the guy who had the best car at the end of the race.

I like the GWC. What I don't care for at atleast half of the tracks are side by side restarts. Especially gwc's. Single file restarts keep everyone honest. JMO
I like side by side for the most part....however not for short tracks.
Martinsville was clearly unfair for those drivers restarting on the outside.

May as well bring back the race to the S/F line during cautions too...More drama...More carnage...

Not crazy about the GWC rule, but I don't like races ending under yellow, so I'll take it.

I love the double file restart for lead lap cars.

Racing back to the S/F line when a caution came out always had the potential for disaster.
Also I can remember the leader practically parking his car on the track at times trying to allow a teammate to get a lap back when a caution came out, so I'm ok with freezing the running order when a caution comes out.

I don't like the "lucky dog" rule. If you want to be on the lead lap, don't get lapped.

Don't like the yellow line rule. It took away Jeff Gordon's passing zone coming out of turn 4 at Dega.

One rule I'd like to see is, if a caution comes out with 20 or less laps to go, the race is red flagged until the track is cleared to race.
I came up with that idea watching the final NW race last year when a caution came out with about 13 laps to go, and nascar, with so much on the line in that race, ran almost all of those laps out under caution.

Or stop counting laps.

GWCs are usually very entertaining and exciting, but most of the time, the driver who would've won had the caution not come out does not win. I don't like that part.

ARCA's rule is the best. Their rule states that the race must finish under caution unless it's weather or a timed race.

GWC was the best thing implemented in a long long time. Too many times over the years has a caution come out with four or five laps left, only to have the cars run four or five laps under yellow because it took a while to clean up whatever the mess was. Talk about a race-ruiner. With the GWC, that is almost guaranteed not to happen.

Conversely, they have been known to intentionally drag out a caution flag just so they could force a GWC for drama. That, I dislike.

I agree with all this.

Let's not forget how G-W-C finishes came to be in Cup. Back in the spring and summer of 2004, there was a string of races that ended under caution. In fact, in June and July of that year, it seemed like races finishing under caution was the norm. I can't imagine fans, today, would be very happy if the caution came out with four laps to go in multiple races and the races ended under caution. Not to mention, it really brings race manipulation in to play. Let's not forget who's single car spin caused the controversial caution at Talladega in 2004.

They already do that when they want to, LOL. Mark Martin got robbed in the 2007 Daytona 500. At the time, I believed it was a good no-caution because they raced back and produced the best possible finish though I still believed Mark got robbed. This year, when Jr was leading and a wreck happened, NASCAR damn sure wasted no time in throwing the caution, ending the race before the checkered flag flew. Mark was robbed.

I think the free pass was implemented because the leader usually let a lapped car or two beat them to the line to get a lap back before they did away with racing back to the line.

OK, but instead of it being an automatic thing where the first car a lap down gets the lucky dog, how about a Roman gladiator thing where the leader gets to decide by putting his hand out the window with a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

Lol Me too... I just recall a certain argument in which I used urban dictionary to prove something and you completely discredited it. But, life goes on.. lol happy race day! :D

It suit my arguement at the time so I said that site didn't count. :D

I see Urban dictionary as more of a fun and spoofy version of a real one.

Agreed 100% on Mark Martin, but Junior would have won that race regardless, so thankfully the caution didn't affect the outcome.

I don't know why they even bothered to turn the caution lights on when they did, because the leaders were pretty much at the finish line at that point. They did the same thing at that Nationwide race at Talladega last year when they were three or four wide at the line. Stupid.

Because Mark Martin was robbed. That's why. They need to pick a precedent and stick with it.

Personally, I think that, if the caution comes out on the final lap, I think they should line them back up and have a one lap runoff like ARCA does.

I think it would have sucked if Logano had lost yesterday because of a caution thrown with a lap and an inch to go after dominating the race.

I'm not sure what impressed me more... turning a 10th place car into the best car on track, going to a 6 second lead over 2nd at one point... or losing it and keeping his cool enough to get by Jeff at the end and get the win anyway.
