I enjoyed the Dale Jr. Download show a while back with the guest Gary Balough, since I had watched him race many times, mostly at Golden Gate Speedway (defunct) near Tampa. This was in the 70's at the yearly Governor Cup races. They had quite a field of short trackers there -- lots of drivers from the Midwest like Eddy, Sennekar, Howe (won it 4 times, 3 seconds), Malcuit brothers, Trickle, Gregory, Shear. Then there was the Georgia crowd (Ridley & McGinnis) and Miami crowd.
It was strange -- many folks in the stands were saying "those fancy painted cars from south Florida were built with drug money", and sure enough as time passed, a few were busted.
