I remember playing a golf course in South Carolina and there was a fairly long par-3. I took out a 5-iron and swung away - only to "top it" and hit a grounder down by the pond in front of the green. I could see the ball and it was short of the water so I figured I could chip it across and maybe still make a par - at worst a bogey.
When I got close to the ball I noticed what looked to be a very large plastic alligator.
...It wasn't plastic - I made a double bogey and had to change my pants.
