George "Goober" Lindsey dies.

Hey 97, after highschool, I worked at the old Food World on Airport Road. I was a night stockman and he would come in every once in a while in the early morning. He would have all of us rolling....

He was a heck of a football player and basketball coach back in the day too. Super nice guy...
 
Yeah, I've been working in Jasper for the last year and a half or so, he's a well respected name around these parts, old bud.

I never met him, but heard he was a great guy. He will be missed.
 
His name became a punchline, and I never really cared for his character much on the Andy Griffith Show, but, he was really funny. It wasn't him that I didn't like in particular, I just generally don't like over the top characters like Larry The Cable Guy, Reba McIntyre and the like. From everything I've heard though, he was a really good guy and he was funny in a lot of stuff over the years.
