Alex Bowman in the #23, Ryan Truex in the #83. Truex remains under contract with RPM.

It's a fresh start for BK Racing in 2014.

Alex Bowman, who finished his rookie season 11th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with RAB Racing, will make his Sprint Cup debut Feb. 23 in the No. 23 Dr. Pepper Toyota at Daytona International Speedway. The 20-year-old Tucson, Ariz., native ran a combination of K&N Tour Series races prior to competing in NNS but has been most successful in ARCA, where he won six races in 2011 and 2012. The car's change from No. 93 signifies the 23 flavors in Dr. Pepper.

The second seat will be filled by two-time K&N Pro Series East champion Ryan Truex. The 21-year-old brother of Martin Truex Jr. has competed in NASCAR's top three touring divisions. He made his Sprint Cup debut with Phoenix Racing last August at Bristol. His best result was a 32nd-place finish in September at Dover. Truex will drive the No. 83 Toyota. His sponsor for Daytona will be Borla Exhausts.

Truex, who signed as a development driver with Richard Petty Motorsports last summer, remains under contract with RPM but has the team's consent to drive for BKR. Both drivers will also be eligible for the Cup rookie of the year contests.

While I agree these two have more upside than Kvapil and Ruetimann, is it still a good fit for an operation like BK Racing. I am not sure BK is established enough to help support the growing pains these two drivers will be going through. I'd feel better about this if a strong veteran(as strong as it can get) was brought in like a Martin, Labonte, or Burton. Someone who has been with a top tier organization before and can help BK with what a driver really needs.

Perhaps a little bold to go with 2 rookies but I still like this move by BKR. Maybe they saw what Swan Racing was doing with their driver lineup and thought it would be a good idea to go in that direction as well.

A lot of young talent coming in for 2014, it's very refreshing to see.

So now Danica is going to be running into Alex Bowman and Ryan Truex I guess.

Well, now that Alex is in a cup car i will have 4 Chevys and a Toyota to root for this year.

Guy like Alex in a car like that, first year, I would call it a success if he finishes higher than Gilliland a Kvapyl. If he has a top ten, hell give him a long term contract if he will sign it.:)

That's why that organization is never going to get good. How do you progress in this sport when you always hire hacks and rookies? No room for improvements at all.

pretty trollie statement. Ya hire hacks? and rookies because you don't have the money or the equipment to hire higher priced talent. You gamble on two rookies because you are taking a chance and hoping that one or both will overdrive the car and you make more money to buy better equipment so you can get even better..see how simple that is?

I dont know what you are talking about.

I made an observation.

That's a ridiculous statement. BKR has been around for what, 2 years? You don't start an organization at the top, you have to build from the bottom. The whole reason why they hired rookies is because it gives them a chance to improve and grow as an organization, potentially attract new sponsors too. I'm pretty sure Jimmie Johnson isn't going to be leaving HMS to drive for BKR any time soon.

They will do better than Swan racings rookie pairing of Parker Kligerman and Cole Whitt. They have two big name sponsors atleast. I think the team can get better since last season it seemed like 1 if not both of the cars each week would either be in the garage for some kind of engine failure or because they were involved in a crash.

Danica took them out I think it was at least three times, she got both of them one race and picked a couple off singly.:)
for a new team, that hurts. Newman booted Gilliland one time for a DNF, so they had their troubles. They will be interesting to see if they do better this year. I think klingerman will do the better of the two at Swan

Perhaps Reutimann and Kvapil gave BR the baseline info they needed to build the teams they now have. I think it would have been insanity to bring in rookies from day one.

canon fodder for Danica and more cautions = more restarts ........................... whats not to like about these guys

Four kids in the Toyota camp. Wow. Like them all. Absolutely wonderful to see Truex get a ride.

It seems odd that a driver for RPM would race for a competing team and a competing manufacturer

It would make sense for RPM to develop a driver on someone else's dime instead of trying to foot a bill you cannot afford. If Ford thought that highly of Ryan, they probably would have nixed the deal. I suppose the thinking is that Toyota can suffer while Ryan works the kinks out. However, if he is void of kinks, Toyota wins but RPM and Ford still have the long term rights.

Very nice to see so many rookies this year 8 I believe sure beats when it was Kevin Conway vs Kevin Conway.
