Good run for Hideo

I did not see any evidence of fan prejudice, during the driver introductions I was pleased to see that he was getting a really nice welcome, the trip around the track brought plenty of cheers his way and I thought he was both charming and humorous. I had hoped to see him run competitively and I was bummed when they said he was black flagged the second time for not meeting the minimum speed. Tranny problems would explain that. He was quickly lapped and pretty much drove just to stay out of the way and I would have liked to see him do better than that. I will not be two faced and condemn Shawna for driving the same type of races and then praise Hideo! I would really like to see him do well and I hope to see him in some Busch or ARCA racing to prepare him for full time in Cup if that is what he would like to do.

Okay Paul........I stand corrected. The only post or thread I had seen up till your search was the "I smell rice........etc" last week. Sorry.:)

Why is Hideo racing in WC?

Why is he racing at Dover, Martinsville, and Rockingham?

Why so late in years? If 47 is late.

Hideo says he is “fulfilling a promise made in 1996 to the late Dale Earnhardt”, Fukuyama is just chasing a dream, granted he’s chasing farther than most, just to race on American race tracks in a stock car. An exhibition appearance in 1996 at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan and support from the late Champion whet his appetite for stock car racing.

Its taken six years for Fukuyama and his backers to secure enough financing to bring his plans to car owner Travis Carter. NASCAR officials wanted Fukuyama (whose previous oval experience is 2 starts at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan and 1 start at Pikes Peak in Colorado) to attempt his debut at a track a mile or less, and due to competing schedules the fall races at Dover, Martinsville and Rockingham presented themselves.

:( I didn't get to see what happen to him. When I came in and turn on the race he was already out.
