Good Time To Set A Precedence

Joe Gibbs Racing did not follow the rules..and if he continues to not follow the rules and race cars with illegal engines, he will either get fined out of Nascar or go with a manufacturer that can make legal engines. Playing dumb and "I don't know what happened..I didn't do it somebody else did isn't going to work..if his "partner" TRD doesn't pay all the fines for their mistake and fix it so it doesn't happen again, I bet ol Joe won't last too long with that partner. This is real simple Ted..no means no. Some people just don't get it.

Don't get your point , but I do respect your opinion.

I didn't think you would. It has been explained to ya many times, many ways, and you continue to try to change reality and bend the rules that Nascar has laid down and been enforcing for many years to suit you. It don't work that way.

Like I said , I am 100 % in favor of Nascar's rules , their reality (whatever that is ) ,their right to enforce those rules , and their right to impose any penalty they see fit .

I doubt that he ever will, but I would love to see Joe Gibbs come back to Nhra. The team that I worked on in 97 and 98 bought Joes hospitality trailer from him and when I would travel through Indy I would hang out at his McDonalds race shop and every once in a while he would be there, and it was fun listening to his football stories.

so whats your point..life is unfair, there reality doesn't agree with yours, or we need to get the government or the supreme court into it? Hate to open this can of worms, but various stick and ball organizations issue penalties and level fines and make rules as they see fit. Employers do also..it is called living in a free country. You, as an individual, have the right to pay the fine or not participate.

I have no idea what in heck you are talking about , but it is a free country . Have at it .

I think before any of us can really have a legit or true opinion of the harshness of this penalty...we have to put aside any prejudice towards the team or it's driver and ask ourselves if we think that this was a deliberate cheating tatic to get a performance advantage over other teams, or was it an unfortunate and accidental mistake. I feel that then "and only then" that we can truly have an unbiased opinion on this penalty. I would love to see a poll on how many think this rod was underweight on purpose or by mistake, and if the severity of a penalty should be different depending on the outcome.
The absolute last thing that Nascar should do is try to define 'intent'. That would open up a whole new bag of worms and the arguing would be unending....at all costs intent should be avoided as a means of determining panalties.

Common sense says one light connecting rod isn't ever done intentionally because it can't give you an advantage. Pemberton needs to consider the facts when deciding on a penalty. This is the fool who grandstanded with the 46 C-post cover and never took measurements before having it removed. How did he think he would enforce the penalty without measurements?
